Specials can be pinged, but they have to be close and “visible”. Go ahead and ping them when you’re up close, it works, and that way the rest of your team mates get the benefit of the highlighted special. You just can’t do it from a distance in the darkness.
Personally I find the cart less intrusive than the torch. The problem with the torch is that one guy needs to hold it while with the cart everyone can fight.
About this, I would like to add one thing.
Personally I love torches’ style… Moreover torches (from Blightreaper) and cart (from Hunger) are two different ways to deal with the darkness and this improves the variety.
Anyway, IMHO, Blightreaper’s problem aren’t torches, but the map itself… it’s too long.
We have the darkness that slows down the pacing… and this should be enough! But then we have the first event, before to leave the sewers, where we have to wait that some doors open. At the end of the map we have another boring event where we have… once again… wait for other doors.
Blightreaper must be shorter… NOT easier, just shorter.
The only problem with the torch for me is that the light emitter is too low so that dropping it on the ground can result in varying light / shadows which can be very annoying.
Person with the torch can drop said torch and fight. Or you can keep the torch and fight with it in which case it has a really good attack pattern with good cleave / stagger - just not damage and a bit slower in attack speed. I don’t think it works with THP anymore which was also pretty good.
I agree that Blightreaper’s main issue is the length plus the disappointing ending (imo). You have this nifty trailer showing all these chaos warlords claiming the Blightreaper and you have zero encounters with prominent claimants in The Pit or Blightreaper.
Wish they added a few supped up elites with tweaks to skins / stats and added them as possible spawns in either level. Would make that dlc a bit more distinguishable beyond a failed cosmetic system.
