The Crafting Memorial; lest we forget

Wtb a darktide athanor ;_;

Hey I just had someone comment on my negative review of the game that they decided to pass on it due to my review, which largely criticizes the crafting. Does that count as someone else for the memorial, maybe an honorary?

I would… maybe a separate list, just too much work lol. I have thought about it though. Reddit, steam forums, etc. To see more dissident talk. But then you run into issues of duplicates and such if someone is the same person. I thought about just sharing threads and such.

But I think it’s great to see your review made a real change. That’s about all the power we have left. Is just sharing our experiences as consumers to others.

This one thread of yours has a lot more legitimacy than any other copy could have.

A) This list of yours is on the Fatshark forums. Dogpiling or manipulating is less possible here because the website is directly under Fatshark oversight. So they know the number is legit.

B) This thread is clearly Fatshark condoned or at the very least accepted. If they wanted to it would have vanished a long time ago.

C) It’s very well done, thematically and with a pint of humor.

D) You have a very mature way how you go about this.

I say, it’s fine to keep this here updated. Multiple threads would be extra workload and I don’t think it would find the respect it deserves elsewhere, either.

Reddit: It would turn mostly into fodder for updoots / dislike bombing.
Steam: Too immature, people would rip each other for jokes and giggles in the forums and the original point of the thread would be lost.

Got it, now I get what you meant.

As far as I’m concerned, reddit is just a useless platform now.

Honestly, I just really dislike the interface. How it’s setup, doesn’t auto refresh. I would probably use reddit more if it was actually formatted like the fatshark forums. Their forum website is great.

Reddit is awful, and some of the most appalling human behavior I’ve seen from anyone online has come from moderators of warhammer content there. The /r/warhammer mods often would literally berate and scream at kids for posting their first models that weren’t up to ā€œtheirā€ quality standards (despite breaking no subreddit rules) and do things like tell them to kill themselves or various graphic personal acts, stalk posters and harass them across different and unrelated subreddits, and openly take joy in being total jerks for its own sake, generating quite the reputation across the entire platform in the 2010’s. Eventually I think some of them left after traffic nearly died at one point during 40k’s seventh edition, but that’s also a big reason why there’s so many disparate 40k communities on reddit, the main subreddit was just…bad.

The primitive interface doesn’t help reddit though, this sort of forum is infinitely more useful, and is far less spammed with memes and pics of people’s gear than this game’s subreddit is.

I prefer the manual refresh. Sometimes I’ll want to see something but don’t have the immediate time to look at it, then I can just pull it up a couple hours later without a problem.

Agreed. It’s dogpiling central if you don’t follow the shared consensus, which, Reddit doesn’t even have a reasonable or sane consensus.

Wow that’s… incredible. I have no idea how one can get so deranged.
I’m glad the site is dying now.

Oh, it’s quite easy.

You spend all your time ā€œotheringā€ people with different view points, and talking about them in an echo chamber that will simply repeat your same vitriol back at you with slightly more force.

It’s why I’m generally against talking about people behind their backs. You tend to demonize them, and they become something they’re not in your mind.

It’s why I avoid pretty much all social media other than youtube.

Love me some long form video essays about incredibly niche sh*t I’d never even heard of until I read the title.

Just the best.

I don’t let people live in my head-- they’re either an immediate issue to be dealt with directly, or I don’t think about them.

Only people I like get to live in my skull.

You must be quite patient. For me FS is already dead and wont see a penny of me in the future unless theres major changes to their release quality, schedule, honesty and corporate structure

Yep, I am. They only have a few months to fix this mess and do good by this community until I will categorize them next to EA and Ubisoft after which I will avoid them like the plague and will advocate against them to anyone I know and meet. Not to purchase from them ever again no matter what.

This is exactly my feeling. I’ve seen creative projects run into the ground by prima donnas.

And it might also be ABSENT leadership who isn’t seeing the failure, but keeps their rules clad in iron. ā€œDon’t you dare do anything that doesn’t fit that one lecture on mobile gaming I attended at that convention on the day I had to prove I was there before I went to the beach! I’m SAVIN’ THIS GAME! Now I’m off to the beach again. Don’t mess with me or you’re fired!ā€

AKA, the ā€˜new ownership.’
