The Crafting Memorial; lest we forget

The greatest mod to ever release to Vermintide 2:

It has interesting balance changes, makes moonfire bow fun to play, reworks talents, adds a ton of fun boons, increases enemy variety by tweaking models, has different modes like tabletop, and so much more.

Cheers, I will check it out.

I hope you have friends for it. No one plays modded realm. I got lucky with my group because I host Twitch Cata on a daily basis and naturally made friends to play with.

Nah, no one I know plays it, I have barely played V2.

I am more of shooter person,

with the boons for bots mod, it actually makes the bots moderately effective so you can ‘solo’ too

Whats your channel?

Oh I don’t have a twitch channel. You don’t need one for Twitch Cata in Vermintide 2. You can plug in any random 24/7 music stream and it’ll work. Plus having a streaming service in background would severely hamper performance since Vermintide is a very CPU intensive game.

Then, how do people know what they’re voting for?

I think they’re only worse because they’re actually complete systems, they let you fork over cash directly for stuff instead of simply pulling the RNG lever again.

You can absolutely dump thousands (or even tens of thousands) of dollars into something like World of Warships if you want everything, especially so if you want it now. The game’s monetization is absolutely designed to tick every gambling impulse and collectible urge out there, but if you just want to play competitively at top tier and try out a variety of different classes and nations, it’s not too bad. You can grind a free tech tree line in about as much time as it takes to grind a Darktide character to 30, you don’t need to spend a dime and can still work consistently towards many Premium ships and will probably earn several through various RNG rewards just grinding the free tech tree stuff and logging in every day, there’s tons of rewards just for logging in and playing 1 game a day. The people with hundreds of ships chasing every offering and with thousands of dollars invested literally don’t have time to play them all, they’re compulsively buying things they don’t have time to enjoy.

Meanwhile in Darktide, I don’t think any of my characters have been equipped with new gear this year so far, Hadron bricked everything I tried to upgrade, then I just stopped bothering, then Helldivers took over my playgroups.

there won’t be voting. The timer on the events will just run out and it’ll be chosen randomly between the options

This will probably be dropped in a year as another surprise rework.

I still pop in to play a game now and then with friends, when asked. I still have zero engagement with the crafting system, have no desire to engage either. We were jilted of aquilas, jilted of all the crafting material and time spent on wasted items, and generally left feeling frustrated moreso than rewarded. We don’t really feel any love or loyalty to Darktide, and that’s a sadness since the principle core of the gameplay during missions can be very satisfying (most of the time…). The lack of love? In my mind and in my limited experience of exposure to the people I know and trust to speak honestly and candidly and not simply troll to be contrarian - that lack is absolutely, entirely now down to crafting and the ancillary experience of progression.

If anyone wants to play those rare premade games, throw a ding. Until next time, brave troopers, I’m off back to my ceramite casket. Mommy needs her beauty sleep, so quit responding to the numpties in here!

You’re so cool. I had so much fun reading your posts on this forum back then.

Oh dang I’d nearly forgotten about that! They were at least exploring the option before deciding to turn away at some point

Oh yeah, ‘aquilas earned through play’. Given Fatshark’s later actions I’m honestly skeptical that the ‘mistake’ of sending that was actually a mistake, and not some exec demanding they make them only available via purchase. Fatshark certainly hasn’t been giving them away like they said they would.

Yeah you’re correct on that one, guaranteed. I can already see the discussion stirring.

Exec:
“Wait, you did what?! You told them they’d be earning Aquilas through play? Are you out of your mind?!”
CM:
“That was the original plan, yes. That’s what Martin Wahlund said last team call.”
Exec:
“F- me. Okay, that has to go. I have bonusses tied to Aquilas sold. Go scrub that info from your website and pretend it never existed. I’ll have to make a call real quick to Martin.”

Something like that maybe.

I don’t get why they had to make everything around the cosmetic store just so lame.

It just gives off a wretched feeling of soulless-ness that feels awful, before the fact that it’s designed to be the least customer friendly as possible.

The only thing I would consider positive about it is being able to preview cosmetics on your character, which wasn’t even there at launch.

You can feel the Corporate Greed emanating from it, that’s why.

Like everything else Darktide it was probably made at the last minute, hence why it lacks a lot of QoL, but with the additional caveat of ‘the people making this hate it’ added on.

Vermintide does feel like a labor of love compared to darktide, which has more of an air of corporate punishment around it
