The Book of Grudges: May Each Be Struck in Time

Alright folks, time to determine what things still need improving and what y’all feel the devs should prioritize.

Balance Priority Poll
  • Talent Trees - Ogryn buffs
  • Talent Trees - Overall power-nerf
  • Talent Trees - Veteran rework again, this time with keystones that are good
  • Talent Trees - Nerf Relic/Bubble/Shout etc - overperformers specifically
  • Enemy rebalancing - functionality fixes (like silent enemies)
  • Enemy rebalancing - more dangerous
  • Enemy rebalancing - more numerous
  • Enemy rebalancing - nerf specific enemy types
  • General - Weapon buffs for underperformers
  • General - Weapon NERFS for OVERperformers

I chose silent enemies need sorted because, although I dont get that particular issue often I know other people do.

Also, since I played about 10 hours on the PS5, I have noticed the game just doesnt run well on it. There are many more silent enemies and the frame rate sucks. I attribute this to both me playing on wifi (the games have always had huge issues with less stable connections) and with the PS5 not being able to handle too many things which causes yet more silent and stutter issues.

Also playing at 30fps is just horrible. I dont think I can go back.

Ogryn first and foremost. Give him some ability that makes him desirable for havoc, and more options than heavy spam.

Bring weaker weapons up so there are several about equally good options, and be careful with nerfs. The iconic weapons from fps games are the powerful ones, not toy guns.

Make enemies more dangerous in melee, so people have to actually care about blocking, dodging and parrying.

Darktide on PS5 is maxxed at 30fps? I remember playing uncharted 4 on the ps4 in like 2016, story mode ran at 30 fps, but they made sure the actual multiplayer ran at 60 fps at the minimum and I never noticed a single frame drop. Next Gen is here I guess.

Is there no performance mode on ps5?

I think so, it sure feels like it.

afaik some games have an option to run in performance mode or quality mode and some games can run 60fps in performance mode. I could be wrong, but I can tell you it felt like dog :poop: being beamed in to my retinas with a side portion of jank, no salt no mayo :face_vomiting:

It could be the resolution Im running at? Maybe I need to reduce my PS5 resolution idk.

Either way, Im running pretty stable 120fps with a wired 1Gb connection on my RTX 4070Ti and I dont get many issues ever.

not surprised console struggles to run this game, when they released xbox version ages ago they had to reduce the amount of zombies in hoards because no matter what they did it just wouldn’t work.

And now PC players have to suffer from it. Crossplay is bad.

imagine if no console boys tho you would get matchmaking with people on the other side of the globe

PC players dont suffer at all, unless you count the influx of new players that suck
Console players suffer because the game runs a bit ropey on them. The PS5-Pro will run the game just fine, but imo the PS5-Pro is a karkin rip off! and it the main reason Im moving away from consoles completely. I wizz on SONY.

Crossplay should be normal on all games ever, along with cross saves too.

It’s a failure to optimize, not a failure of Xbox. This game runs like molasses on the best of days and it’s an absolute disgrace.

Devs need to test on mid-level hardware at the very least to make sure their game isn’t tailored to the upper echelon of the PC gaming market.

Poll results:

People want Ogryn buffs and ‘normalization’ of weapons, with enemies being fixed in terms of functionality and generally made more dangerous.

Also, adding this to the comms complaints again: Why is communication with Fat Shark so poor?

speaking of polls, i remember fatshark wanted to do some as well.
they said they would done some officially but they never done them

while i understand it may take some time because they wanna do it right and covering all platforms, it would be the best to start doing them anyways just to give the feeling of players being listened, and just for the sake of information to see what players would want

The horde spawning patterns changed to cater for the console ports is still a pretty sore point.

This is a typical procrastination tactic. They may not even be aware of it, but it goes like this:

  1. We need to deliver what players want.
  2. We need to know what the players want.
  3. We need to get a poll to them to find out what they want.
  4. We can only do polls on the PC launcher.
  5. We need to figure out how to poll console players, because we don’t want to leave them out.
  6. Let’s work on figuring out how to poll console players.

So now they can be keep themselves busy with brainstorming, building proof of concepts, etc on how so they can accomplish point 6.

The patient is dying, but they’re trying to find out which brand makes the best bandaids.

This is news to me. Can you confirm this?

Ironically, the current state of Darktide bothers me significantly less than the current dwindling state of Hunt: Showdown, who have put out numerous polls.

Not saying Darktide doesn’t still need improvement, but polls don’t really mean anything if teams don’t act on them.

Could just end up making sentiment worse if people feel like the polls have no impact. Or if they come after a decision has been made but are only used to inform future decisions and not renege on previous ones.

I’m not the one who believes polls will give the game designers and devs exactly what they need to improve the game. But Fatshark is currently using that as a reason to do nothing at all.

Eh, that’s a pretty strong assumption. I bet they probably just have a poor/anti-streamlined dev pipeline.

…Which is a pretty safe bet considering how we’ve seen them actively reinvent the wheel between games.
