Gave it some thought.
I’m adding some stuff to the Output section of the Book because, y’know, being unable to say anything after a full month of teasing a dev blog is not good - but it’s not a communication issue since they actually said they’ve got nothing and there’s no itemization update until ‘Fall’ (read: October).
So Strawhat ghosted me after I asked about progress on this repeatedly, so I feel in the interest of transparency that sharing a bit of communication on one of their broken promises (the retroactive penance completion) is a good idea.
So yeah, this issue still needs some work and isn’t intended to be happening. Fatshark Development, everyone.
i’ve once got a post removed that didn’t break any ToS, asked if they would restore or explain why, also never got an answer
Welcome to the club. Seems like a lot of the moderation is done without a pair of discerning eyes somewhere in the equation.
Simple solution to all of this: any community manager/moderator who doesn’t play the game, get rid of them. Now, hire people who have been active and engaging on these forums and have good playtime and let them start taking in feedback then giving it to the developers. Oh wait, that would mean putting people who actually ENJOY their job in charge and we all know that will never happen because this is 2024 gaming.
More accurately, they don’t want people who will tell them stuff they don’t want to hear.
Adding this image to the section containing FS’s lies.
It’s a transparently obvious one and I would feel less insulted if they openly admitted they’d had radium weapons in the works but couldn’t make it happen in time for the update.
I do foresee ‘good old plasma gun’ becoming a meme though.
I think DT might actually be operating on a skeleton crew.
The fact that they hire hobbyist youtubers for Darktide cinematics, despite their company size, is deeply concerning. Don’t get me wrong the Wolfer cutscene was cool, but this is kind of embarassing.
That’s rad that he worked on that. That in itself isn’t really worrying if the people they hire do good work.
As we have seen with Creative Assembly, some of their modders have done better work than some of their staff so…
they did alot of community engagement, and always put a spotlight on community highlights or just passion projects
i share your sentiment that DT is run on a skeleton crew but that doesn’t prove anything tbh
So.
Going to be adding the 3djuegos thing as a grudge, under their ongoing communication problems.
Not because of the Crafting stuff it leaked - that’s apparently outdated - and not because it got StrawHat to confirm the actual Itemization update will remove locks.
But because we all know that without that leak, we never would’ve gotten confirmation. Fatshark would’ve refused to tell us anything and we never would’ve gotten an opportunity to give feedback.
I just remembered another one when I was discussing the patch with friends.
So most ranged weapon variants have a heavy, medium and light version, and for a while they had specific colours, light being blue, medium dark green/grey and heavy brown/tan, which helped players identify them a bit more easily.
Up until the twin linked heavy stubber variants, where suddenly the heavy variant was blue and light variant was brown. Fatshark admitted that the variant colour schemes were all a coincidence and they hadn’t intended for there to be any consistency in colour scheme to identify the variant.
It’s not a bug, more of a design oversight.
As 8m close range kill post is closed, can someone explain what’s the problem exactly?
that you need kills within 8m to activate blessings as fire frenzy?
Close Range is supposed to be about 15 meters. Melee range is supposed to be 8.
Close Range is instead set to 8 and nobody has explained why. So it’s a bug, one that could be changed easily yet hasn’t.
It was working fine before the class overhaul if I remember correctly. It got borked for no reason and never addressed, despite several threads being acknowledged.
Thanks for the clarification, I knew its at 8m, but thought that how it works.
although dumdum works at all ranges, while it shows close range. Really weird.
also why melee set at 8meter? what melee attack can be at 8 meters?
I don’t disagree about that fact, but it’s not like that’s a good thing though, is it? You’d think these companies operated in a meritocratic manner, where the most talented people on hand were given their respective jobs. If that’s not the case, we shouldn’t be surprised when things get released to the public in a subpar state.
Traitor’s Curse part 2 was released on Nov 2023. It introduced a bug in which having a non-default controller configuration selected would bug out that configuration when the game is started or restarted, like after a crash.
If you use the default control scheme, you can’t dodge quickly enough to avoid sniper fire or auditorally indicated hits coming your way (a completely separate, incredibly poor decision among two related to controller defaults, but I digress. The other one is actually even worse, but the distinction here is the difference between a poor decision and a new bug that is obviously a bug).
At first I didn’t bother making a bug report because it was so obvious, I mentioned it in a few posts, and the hot fixes were rolling in. After a few weeks, I was incredulous, in utter disbelief. I refused to make an official bug report because I started a new job and wasn’t really playing but once every week or two if at all. As I drifted away from the game every time I’d boot up, I’d be in a match and sometimes forget to swap back and forth between configurations so that I could once again properly dodge.
I’ve never seen a controller configuration bug persist for half as long. Sometimes configs reset after a corrective patch and rebinding is a drag, but to leave it in place is unthinkable, especially for the legion of casual whales that they attracted through gamepass on console.
I did eventually make bug report, I think it was 3 or 4 months ago after posting about it several times after patch notes. I’m writing this on my phone so I’m not going to look it up.
This was in the patch notes released yesterday, a full 7 months later:
One of my problems is that I despise gross negligence that is tantamount to brand suicide. Presumably, without gamepass and government funding, this game would be an unmitigated failure. To me this is the kiss of death, a mortal sin.
Daily reminder that this can in fact be done:
