The Book of Grudges: Because Fatshark Won't Listen

That’s already more than actionable feedback. If you want more details, feel free to look up the multitude of customer reviews of said cosmetics on this forum and elsewhere.

If one was not being obtuse on the matter, it would be pretty obvious what the issue is.

Sir many are dunking on our latest cosmetic. I’m afraid we’re going to have to turn up the effort to 110%. That’s the business plan.

Am I supposed to write down an action plan to the letter from A to Z here or something? The onus is on FS to analyze the reception to their actions and respond intelligently from there. Please stop being difficult about this. This is a universal concept in any business that has customers.

i gotchu. i would meet with the board and say sah, theres a lot of player animosity around this item shop and dissatisfaction with its offerings. now i know all of you care about protecting the consistency of GW’s IP represented in various derivative works, including this here game. but i would remind you that many players of your beloved tabletop franchise enjoy creatively applying colors and mixing pieces, aka kitbashing, beyond the guidelines of the rule book. shouldnt players in this video game have the same creative freedom? lets allow some flexibility and give cosmetic designs that appeal to a wider range of the playerbase, including those who want to stick to the tabletop AND those who want to wear a pig on their head cuz its cute.

The Krieg sets are actually one of the sets that’s an example of tabletop stuff being adapted to Darktide…terribly.

The Veteran set is beyond awful, nearly nothing matches the actual tabletop models. The helmet is wrong, the mask is wrong, the coat is wrong, even the web gear is the wrong type, while the chest rebreather proportions are enormous and clips through everything held in the hands.

It looks like the artist lovingly recreated their comic-con cosplay made from random mismatched 20th century army surplus bits, not referencing thr actual tabletop models.

The rest of the outfits for the other 3 classes likewise arent based on anything tabletop. The Krieg lore to this point had no mention of Ogryns or Psykers (except to note extreme aversions to psykers among DK units) and were never options to take when the DKoK had their own army lists.

The Zealot outfit likewise has no elements that match any part of any existing DKoK miniature or art except the Skull on the gasmask coming from the Grenadier rebreather.

It’s all made-up Chinesium with little relation to the 40k models and art. :sob:

This is real feedback - but you’re talking about customization which is different than what AlphaOmegaMan is complaining about. I’d love customization as well.

This might be a stretch. I’d say they care more about keeping Tencent stockholder’s happy which is part of the underlying problem with the store. What’s the monetary return on allowing customization? How do you quantify player happiness? Don’t get me wrong I agree with you but that’s how beancounters see things and unless they can link some specific issue to a drop in players or revenue they won’t see it as a priority.

New word added to my dictionary. Cheers boss

I cannot un-see how the portrait of a Krieg vet looks like a doggo in-game :dog:

I will bash shareholder primacy and profit-driven corporate decision-making all day long. Tencent is not a shareholder of Games Workshop though, afaik, but rather Fatshark. And Fatshark’s Tides games are beholden to GW’s rules. Tencent can push FOMO and MTX and other deceptive UX onto the game, but I’m not sure they can override the GW constraints on cosmetics. In fact, I’d wager dad and step-dad might be fighting >_<

I wouldnt know. If they can’t get the tabletop adaptations right for those who DO care, and they arent willing to go beyond the tabletop constraint for those who DONT care, then what cosmetics does that leave us with? Ahhh, I get it, haha. Drab grey or drab yellow, sah!
To be fair, Darktide has excellent graphics and the cosmetics look professional as heck. I know there have been some clipping issues and misplaced floating candle flames but the artists deserve praise, they do a great job representing materials and textures. Love the look of the leather vs canvas fabrics, and the weathering and folds they add to textiles. It’s just… yeah.

This is what I mean when I say FS does no QA on their premium cosmetics implementation:

The preview image has one camo, the actual model another. Which one is it? If you’re asking people to pay real money for this, then maybe some clarity on what they’re actually getting when they pay said money is a reasonable thing to expect.

F*cksakes gang. This is long past the “woopsie” excuse. These types of stupid, obvious-at-first-glance problems happen regularly and repeatedly. It is habitual, not a one time mistake.

@FatsharkStrawHat I know this isn’t your doing but what gives?

I’ll tack onto this and note that the non-camo version is IMO better, please tell whoever is making these to avoid camo like the plague from now on, it’ll be a good start to making cosmetics on the store at least somewhat desirable.

The only thing that camo is good for is on a full suit of Kasrkin Stormtrooper Carapace. It just doesn’t work on anything else.

Quick update: Krieg is grudge-producing again (the reskins are still busted with how they appear relative to what Krieg should actually be, and vet’s enormous rebreather bag is still a thing) and I think it’s becoming clear that Strawhat is single-handedly holding up a huge amount of Fatshark’s comms because everyone got a lil spicy once they took a break for a couple weeks and nobody felt the need to replace them in actually telling the user-base things.

Bro actually, it’s subjectively sick trust me.

We hear you! ™

Some of these takes are insane. Bubble is mandatory on high level play? Double stun shield doesn’t offer enough?

Stun shields invalidate FOUR of the maelstrom modifiers. And if bubbles were mandatory, someone should have told me before I dropped 700 hours on psyker and carried 90% of matches without it.

Who are you yelling at?

main book balance section. might be outdated but at time of writing one major threat was auric deciding to pop out eight gunners at once from four different angles who would stunlock your team to death

To no one’s surprise.

I’m thinking they probably went radio silent for so long the first time because internally they already knew they were going to be fixing the game for the first 2 years and thought that staying silent was a better decision than just coming out and saying it.

Which is…almost never the case.

I’m sure some people were upset at “Operation Health” when it was announced for R6 Siege, but nowadays I never hear that phrase used with a negative connotation. It’s always “X game really needs an operation health”.

All I can say is for ours and FS’ sake I hope Strawhat enjoys her job and doesn’t leave anytime soon. Stuff’s just starting to get good.

That’s still the case a lot of the time but I think most regular auric players have settled into that reality to the point where it’s no longer as damning (some pun intended). It’s still f*cking dumb, but most regulars know how to handle it I reckon.
