True, that’s also very important. But situatonal awerness is not going to allow you to survive
4 chaos warrior if all you have is a sword and shield. I mean, imagine that you are the last guy standing, and to revive your team you need to get through 3 chaos warriors camping on the respawn, and all you have is a sword and shield… See what i mean? I always find myself in similar situations whenever i use such weapons, and every time i see a bunch of amored opponents im always like “f*uuck” and i either have to run away or let my teammates do the killing, and we both know that that is no fun.
TL:DR : No matter how “aware” you are of your surroundings, if your weapons is sh#t there is very little you can do about it.
This is why I don’t tend to run low-mobility weapons in general and shields in particular. Being able to bail out and kite a bunch of stuff is the basic strategy for clutching a tough situation, IMO. You can survive 3 CW with sword and shield, along with the specials (and perhaps a horde) that will pop up while you’re whittling them down, but it’s much harder.
With that said I think BlackBart is right that any loadout can at least pull its weight on Legend. Merely by being alive you’re at least drawing some portion of the aggro xD. Some loadouts are mainly okay but only when the players are closely supporting each other, other loadouts are very flexible. I don’t think the balance patch will make that go away.
Sure imagine a similar situation with a ratling gunner and a gas rat, the gunner pins you in a corner and the gas rat kills you… except the sword and board walks out and kills them both.
There are not a lot of players who will survive 4 chaos warriors, no matter what career or weapon selection but the can and will go down if you use the map to your advantage, there are plenty of spots where you can kite them, they cant reach you or or you just out run them using terrain drops and shoot them in the head. I’m not claiming I want to be in that situation but if a player on my team is in the situation you describe then I’ve let them down, not the reverse. By definition I’m dead and they are cleaning up my mess.
Lol good luck killing the gatling gunner with the sword and shield. Also you are still pinned when you use the shield, you just dont take damage.
With the foot knight’s charge and the Halabard it’s not too hard, especially if you keep doing push-attacks, but with shielded weapons it’s downright impossible.
Sword and shield is dead easy to kill a gunner as you can suck up the fire and actually walk up to it and press the handgun against it’s face while it reloads if you want to. 3 CW as footknight with Sword and Board is really hard but doable, using the charge ult to put them on their arse while you kite to Res.
The point still stands that you res the person who can actually KILL the bloody CW’s though.
Theoretically you can kill everything with the sword and shield, but practically it’s a huge pain in the ass, especially when fighting amored enemies, either you push-attack until you are out of stamina or you wack’em in the head for a solid 10 seconds. Im not saying the sword/mace and shield are impossible to use, im just saying that you can easily do a much better job with other weapons in his selection, making those two in particular frustrating to use. Which is a shame because i love the look, i just wish they were usable on higher difficulties.
I’d pay to see someone kill 3 chaos warriors on legend with a sword and shield, they’d have my o utmost respect lol.
True, but where’s the fun in that? I want to kill s*it, not have other players do it for me
Great you do that and let the Kruber do his bit to help you do it. My participation in this thread has never been a conversation about you, or anyone, have to use a particular weapon or weapon set.
I won’t kick players over their weapon selections, I might not personally think it’s an effective choice, but I’m not kicking players for using them, (or career selection). It’s also about me acknowledging that I don’t have the only “right” way to play and that what I consider ineffective can be played effectively.
I tend not to kick players, If I don’t like someones skill level I disband or leave the party after the level completes and start again
Yeah, but my point was that you can still kill stuff while using Kruber, you just gotta pick a different weapon.
I dont doubt it, but what pushed me to write the post in the first place was the fact that i got kicked by several other people in a short span of time just because i used a weapon considered “inefficient” and “garbage”.
