First of all, I love the game it’s a blast for me. I have my fair share of things to criticize about it but i enjoy ravaging hordes with brutal and deadly weapons of all sorts
That said, i also like progressing at a reasonable and encouraging pace in the game I play, and while the leveling is a bit slow, it’s nothing compared to the satanist amount of craft material required to chase for optimized equipments
It takes ages to get enough plasteel and diamantine to upgrade and roll two weapons to optimization, but try doing that with your curios too and you’ll just never see the end of it
The worst part is that i play mostly in damnation. I have 2900 diamantine left for 150 plasteel and now way to convert the rarer material into the supposedly more common one
It’s a bit stupid that the diamantine gain increase more than the plasteel ones by improving difficulty… And I don’t want to bore myself by playing lvl 2/3 missions that doesn’t challenge me just to get a correct ratio of diam/plast
We need ways to recycle weapons, curios and diamantine into plasteel, or other methods to gain more crafting materials. This is way too long and there is no shortcuts in sight
I agree. With the absurd RNG lottery that is the store, the only way to chase meaningful weapon upgrades is to keep spending mats to upgrade weapons in tier and hope for good perks and blessings to roll. That means upgrading a whole bunch of weapons just in the hope of getting a good one, after you’re already spent tons of time getting half-decent stuff from the store.
With all the RNG currently in the game, FatShark could at least let us swim in crafting materials so it doesn’t feel like the game is actively fighting us at every step, doing it’s best to make sure we don’t have fun.
The deliberate scarcity of crafting materials paired with the locking-mechanism of perks and the way items are randomized, you have very little reason to invest into weapons that don’t drop or are bought with a setup that warrants investing in it. It makes the whole process completely pointless. You want to be able to dable with stuff, but the game not only does not let you, it actively works against you.
It’s probably to pad out playtime. Remember how they mentioned that when they made Vermintide they planned for 100 hours of gametime? Now they’re planning for a lot more, and adjusted the mechanics accordingly.
Or they’ll be selling materials in the store.
It gets better on heresy, probably around 50-100 diamantine average per mission.
Should be better explained and for sure some adjustments can be made.
Secondary objectives should reward crafting instead of ordo dockets probably or whatever accumulated experience points could be used as currency for some more.
So I think most people would agree that with how often the shop gives you garbage, and how many missions you need to do to get plasteel, one currency we tend to have an abundance of comparatively is ordo dockets. I think a neat solution to address multiple currency issues at once, would be changing the scrap/discard weapon option to also give materials based on the rarity of the item. Emp’s gift give you a yellow with bad stats and rolls? Well at least you get a consolation prize of a whole bunch of crafting mats. Store isn’t giving you a good weapon? At least you can spend dockets on some blues to melt down and get more crafting mats.
Seems like that would make a lot of the game’s worse systems more bearable immediately.
How much of that is because of buying weapons and upgrading in the hopes it will roll the right blessing? I also hover lowish on ordo dockets but that’s the main reason why, and plasteel is way more dire. When full crafting is implemented and rolling the wrong blessing doesn’t matter as much, I quickly see Ordo dockets becoming plentiful relatively. I’ve already heard of lots of people with overkill amount of dockets and nothing to spend them on.
Also +ordo dockets curio exists. Ain’t no +plasteel perk.
To be honest I buy blues above 400 if I like them, green above 370 same, white at 360 ?
Sometimes for a blessing to collect, or I sometimes dream we might be able to upgrade one stat one day etc.
I am far from having collected more than a handful of weapons I am satisfied with and just do shopaholic stuff probably.
Only my ogryn got lucky and is geared okish, the rest are just all resource poor.
So to get back to the tread and your proposal, more sources of materials would be neat.
I mean I’d also be happy if they just doubled plasteel value of in level drops across the board at least until we can do blessing crafting stuff. The plasteel grind honestly kills my enthusiasm way more than the store currently.
