I have observed (via Volley Fire) that when you spook a patrol far away enough (which isn’t all that far), half of them will run into a door to emerge out of a door behind you.
Totally agree on this, If we clear a room it should stay clear unless we missed a door and something wanders in… There’s enough to worry about in front and on the sides.
This thread needs a bump.
Yeah it’s still happening. Literally seen crushers appear from nowhere behind me.
if you cant live through an omae wa mou shindeiru can you even play tide games?
Just because it can be handled doesn’t mean it’s not a bad thing for enemies to spawn out of thin air behind people. I for one would like to see it fixed if it’s a bug or changed if it’s intentional.
Yeah, they are rarely lethal, but they are extremely insulting.
You did your part, you cleared your corner, killed everyone, turn around, and POOF they pop in a bad guy. Just Poof.
IF they crawl out of a hole, okay, come through a door, okay, drop from the ceiling (in which case they should make a sound…) okay. But they don’t.
The emotion is like, if you loaded your gun and the game magically unloaded it for no reason. Or if behind the scenes the game changes block timing totally at random, so even if you do it right it doesn’t work.
i still have never had this problem in 200 hours of damnation games. in fact there may have been a multitude of enemies that spawned behind me but i wouldnt get hit by them because even if they spawned behind me they still have to go through the attack animation AND the sound queue and that is plenty of time to avoid it.
in fact if this is an actual thing i would advocate for keeping it. helps improve difficulty of the game and keeps it interesting and dynamic no matter where you are standing.
Again, it’s not whether you can handle the enemies spawning this way or not, it’s that enemies spawning out of thin air is inconsistent and breaks the game’s own rules for enemy spawns. Have them come out of doors, windows, holes in the ceiling, whatever, but thin air? That’s pretty immersion breaking and unfair.
It is frustrating, but your ass being a monster closet has always been the case in tide games. Not saying I like it or advocate for it, just saying that this is nothing new and has never been scheduled to be changed in previous tide games, so I doubt that it is going to change.
edit: On the plus side, it makes you get very good at flick 180s ![]()
