It's such BS that enemies materialize into thin air behind you

I know this happens, and often not directly behind you, but around corners out of sight you just turned and crap. Friends can verify, as when watching from their down or death cams they’ll see them just materialize next to a corner we passed if they dropped behind us to attack the squad.

This can truly screw positioning and any real semblance of tactics. Enemies already get super buffed move speed if not watching them. They gain a big attack speed boost if mid attack. There are literally clown doors all over the map everywhere. They should never, EVER be spawning outta midair around corners for any reason. This should be fixed, because while I win most games it’s still really freaking dumb. If they are going to spawn behind me, they should come out of the nearest clown door I passed. Period. I’ve also had them spawn behind me in places without clown doors at all.

Most of the time, they come from ledges above or holes in the ceiling. After a while, you start noticing where those are.

I’m not saying that doesn’t happen but we’ve literally witnessed them pop into existence. They should never do that.

Yes, I think patrols do randomly appear out of thin air.

Just walk backwards

They are not just spawning around corners. They basically spawn front of you like 3 meters. Today I cleared a group at the torrent assassination mission, next thing happens. They simply spawned in the middle of nowhere, not once but twice. And line of sight was not broken.

That’s just as much BS because of how much you have to turn your camera to keep an eye on things. In front in this game can literally still be behind you when you turn around to fight things behind you, right? They should never be popping outta thin air that close to the player. Or ever, really given the sheer amount of doors they can come out of anyway

they also speed up when you are not observing them, which is why poxwalkers manage to hit you in the back when you are sprinting.

You can see it happen if one of them is chasing a sprinting team mate, where it suddenly gets a boost of speed.

It’s really anywhere you and others don’t have line of sight. In vt2 they’ll straight up spawn on your face, but I’ve noticed in darktide they’ll only spawn in your face if there’s something blocking your view immediately in front of you. Just yesterday a groaner spawned behind a mutant right after I killed it.

They really ought to be more predictable in their approaches though. Wayyyy too many rooms have spawns that come from every angle. Had a flamer come in and land directly inside of a room decoration just to get at us a day or two ago. Snipers are especially horrible at taking advantage of impossible LoS.

They do, but OP is right. They sometimes literally pop into existence out of thin air. It seems to be connected to the position of teammates. It’s like the game is trying to spawn them in places that are out of anyone’s line of sight, but it has a brainfart and forgets you exist so it just spawns them right near you. Or around you, in some cases.

Yeah, I just bought the game a month ago and I am done with it because of this. Nothing is worse than things spawning behind you except the silent spawns that show up behind you.

It has totally ruined the game for me

I honestly wish they WOULD spawn behind me or around corners. At least that offers plausible deniability that I just happened to miss them when clearing an area. But ever since the more recent patches I’ve seen enemies (mostly specialists / elites) spawn out of thin air directly in front of me. It’s frustrating and annoying.

This game gave me an irrational fear of looking constantly over my shoulder. xD

I mean, I’ve noticed regardless of where units tend to materialize, they will often be outta my line of sight when they do and creep in very quickly from my back. They are maybe supposed to spawn ahead of you, but I feel like a lot of the time the game considers your “front” it spawns in as you’re turning around to kill something at your back and therefore the enemy is functionally behind you again.

It honestly feels a lot like the game is cheating. And given the sheer number of clown doors I don’t honestly understand why anything is materializing outta thin air, ever.

That’s true, doors and map verticality adds some chaos, but I have seen quite a Vermintide spawning experience today, with a pox burster spawning 3 meters behind me, behind a pillar.

It’s the worst when they spawn in a horde from the rear and just blow on you. Sometimes they don’t even give the audio indication they are there. And that IS cheating.

yeah

Especially it seems that mixed hordes are a thing, so silent mauler, crushers and ragers mixed in just compound the issue.

I agree. It’s really annoying.

Yeah, noticed this as well. Most likely a side effect of their newly sporadic spawn system… Hopefully it will get patched soon and isn’t a feature of the new system.
