Tag Abuse

Lately some players try tagging every single enemy and all I hear is the repeated tag sound like a machine gun. It breaks focus, can’t hear enemy sound cues, I had to leave multiple lobbies mid-game. If you try to communicate they will do it more. Tagging is useful and I don’t want to turn it off via a mod. So what should be done to these obnoxious taggers? Open to suggestions.

blame fat shark for giving veterans a skill that literally requires tagging

Wow, I didn’t even know about that. What’s next? Give Psykers a skill that requires writing in the chat? facepalm

Its coz dumbasses make their ping button the same as the attack button thinking its helpful when its not.

That talent is not the issue.

Tagging a lot of enemies once, before they are killed, is completely fine.
That is what the talent incentivizes.

Some people just spam the tag key, resulting in a tag not usually staying on a target for very long at all.
Has nothing to do with the talent. If they are using the talent, they are sabotaging themselves by constantly retagging before killing the first enemy.

Focus Target is ineffective if you spam it, though.

My solution is to have the sound disable if a second enemy is tagged within 1 sec. Win-Win

These threads make me want to set up my auto tag macro again.

Only if you take Focus Target without the Redirect Fire! node.

If you take Redirect Fire! and the eight stacks node you are at a flat 12% more damage for the team plus 5% on whatever you mark.

Left click pinging is obnoxious, but by design it works well enough.

My current way to deal with those Vets is to just leave the party and find a new one. It is worth the extra loading screen.

mortals end is right, but tagging mobs that are abou to die is a part of using the skill correctly.

Its the center keystone

How did you manage that? That’s a great solution

My apologies, did I trigger you by not adjusting my ears for your urge to bleed them regularly?

The urge is so strong. I can’t fight it.

Send help.

There’s a mod to make it much less annoying, aptly called LessAnnoyingPing. You can set delays between repings and/or replace sound.

It’s totally retro bro. Haven’t seen a game without a message spam cooldown in a decade, yet here we are.

I want Sefoni to spit in my mouth and I’m sick and tired of pretending that I don’t.

The normal tag has a little bit of a cooldown, but the veteran one doesnt and can allow you to retag the same thing.

This has been raised at least 3 times that you can see from a quick forum search, including an acknowledgement of a bug for the vet ability.

Not always true, actually. If you re-tag the same target it refreshes the ping duration without consuming FT stacks again, so it maintains the max stacks (assuming you pinged it with max)

It also ups the debuff stack count if you pinged at a lower count, replaces it with the higher count.
