[Suggestions] Something to motivate using all weapons

With a lot of the weapons in the game it would be nice if there was a way to make using every weapon reward something that transfers to other weapons.

A system where when you use a weapon type you gain xp for it. When you master the weapon you unlock a passive that can be applied to any other weapon type. And you can apply a few passives at a time to stack them.

So for example if you master combat blade you unlock a passive that gives you +mobility when melee weapon is equipped. And if you master dueling sword you unlock a passive that gives +finesse when melee is equipped. If you activate both then you can get a bonus to mobility and finesse while using something like a cleaver.

And then leveling up weapons could also affect other things. Like the higher your mastery level for a weapon type, the more likely you are to get better stats, perks and blessings from Brunt’s Armoury RNG.

This could really motivate people to stick with the game and play extensively with every weapon type, both current and new ones because they are getting something out of it that they can transfer to their favourite weapon type!

One last thing. The xp gain on weapons could be very slow, but with a twist. Each weapon type has ‘challenges’ and when you complete a weapon types challenge you gain an xp gain modifier on that weapon type making xp gain even faster. Adding an even more enticing incentive to learning the ins and outs of each weapon type and truly mastering them. Also gaining xp from missions would still be useful to level 30 characters, as well as curios that have +xp perks on them.

Or gaining “mastery” of a weapon allows the locks to be removed.

Once my character reaches level 30 I really wish a system like this existed. It feels like I am doing missions and missing out on the xp gain. A system that continues to use xp would keep a level 30 character from feeling like that.

Well, in Vermintide you had a system for some of the additionnal content weapon (those with the first map remake I beleive) where you would unlock additional cosmetic for the weapon after killing a thousand ennemy with them and using them to defeat the four named boss from the original game.

You could have something like that here were killing x thousand ennemies with every weapon would be a penance to unlock a glowing cosmetic on them.

In VT2 they had the commendation chests past level 30. Surprised they don’t have emperor’s gifts after level 30 guaranteed orange rarity or something.

I heard that because all the weapon stats boosts can’t go past 80% that there is maybe another rarity tier coming. I don’t know if that is true.

technically they do. on t5 you have guaranteed orange item. anything from 470 upwards. all my best items are from these gifts.

thats the reason why people love t5 low int, you can speed run it and get mats and good items.

i wish just that items rank you get would scale with modifiers now it seems the logic is broken. on t5 hi+ there should be guarantee for good tier perk and blessings, now its still random

I think that the “80% max” was just part of the skinner box design. Remember that they only added detailed item stat screens due to massive public outrage after the public beta that was hurting reviews of the game before launch day. They originally intended for us to only have vague unitless stat bars and that we would have to compared pixels to try to guesstimate if one weapon was better in one area than another. By capping stats at 80%, it creates the illusion that we’ve never maxed out a stat and need to keep grinding. We only ever knew that 80% was the top end once fatshark finally capitulated and gave us numbers, and then the pattern quickly became apparent that nothing ever breached that ceiling and that 80% was in truth 100%. I don’t think that they have any plans for improving the gear system right now and are focusing 200% of their efforts on console ports. Maybe gear might improve after the console ports. IMO best case wouldn’t be items with stats above 80% and instead would be a “red weapon” upgrade to cap everything at 80% and break the locks after investing a large sum of plasteel/diamantine into the weapon.

Nope. On Low INT you “can” get Gold weapon but more often than not it’s purple.
Lately I’ve noticed there are more and more weapons with base stats between 301-340 given as Emperor’s gift. EVEN ON HIGH INT STG! Out of 10 received this week only 2 had tier 4 blessing (1 each). Most of them have double set of tier 3 blessings and base stats somewhere between 320-340.

Also sire Melk is begging for wooping. Most of the weapons offered are purple, Low stats and IMAGINE THAT, with tier 2 blessings - even Gold ones.
