Greetings this is my take on healthy changes for 40k Darktide, These suggestions are made solely to aid the aforementioned game to improve and avoid the loss of long term players, To avoid writing far too much here I will highlight only the worst of what I have noticed.
Psyker:
Brain burst:
At current it’s not worth the psykers time to switch to from another weapon, This is because brain burst has far slower time to kill than it needs to be, This “key” ability is unreliable and only See’s effective use on the Bullwalk enemy at range, Close range it is more effective to use a power sword special attack.
Potential changes:
Reduce the charge time and peril build up.
Increase damage by a significant amount.
Either of these aforementioned changes would potentially outright fix the issue.
Ogryn:
Mace and shield:
This massively increases a teams potential for survival when used and while working correctly, Unfortunately this weapon periodically fails to do it’s intended effect, While bracing the shield enemies can occasionally pass through an Ogryn if enough are present, This is highly frustrating to experience, When an Ogryn decides to brace they then Cannot move or take any other actions, Thus if enemies can pass through you it potentially nullifies the use of this defensive imobile state.
Potential changes:
Introduce a better system for collision.
Create a code in the AI of enemies that checks for a path to reach the players and causes enemies that can’t disable an Ogryn to only attack or go idle if there is no valid path.
Hounds:
Pounces:
This common special enemy is a great idea, But due to latency is more often than not impossible to deal with, When a current player hears a hound it is currently the most threatening out of all enemies, this is because the hounds are impossible to predict due to latency and the speeds the hound moves.
Potential changes:
Decrease the speed of hounds.
Make the hounds movements have various moments of slower actions, Such as when it turns a corner or before a pounce.
Pox Bursters:
Stagger:
These enemies from what can be garnered are supposed to be highly susceptible to stagger, Unfortunately there are often times this enemy ignores all forms of stagger which leaves an unfair sour taste for those that are paying attention and doing their best, To be rewarded with a Pox Burster ignoring stagger and almost if not completely killing them.
Potential changes:
Make pox Bursters stagger on any kind of damage.
Reduce the damage.
This will conclude the most pressing issues I have found, If these are addressed I will gladly return to provide additional assistance.
