I played a game as a veteran with two players as the same class and everyone was just taking ammo for themselves. What’s worse is that one of the sharpshooter kept only using their lasgun the entire game barely using their melee weapon, hence he always takes every damn ammo he finds. My suggestion for this is to just add ammo pile/refill in some areas or put the person taking all the karkin ammo on cooldown from taking anymore for a while.
This does seem to be one of those things that people will learn over time. I’ve experienced this myself, if you just politely talk to them most learn their lesson. If not, it’s one mission and they’ll eventually learn when it’s done to them. Don’t think anything game-changing needs to occur.
Yeah you’re probably right, this particular mission was the only time I felt really pissed off to my teammates having to fight ammo for myself.
Do kinda wish that we’d gotten an ammo counter in the player UI, or at least like an empty magazine icon when somebody is low. It’s nice that sometimes your character will bark the name of the person who needs it most, but that doesn’t always happen. I feel like the majority of instances of ammo-stealing are just down to people not realizing anyone else is low.
Everyone has a bullet icon that changes colour over on the bottom left, indicating roughly how much ammo they have. Is that what you’re after?
Just went and checked a stream; goddamn. Not sure how I failed to spot that. I guess I must have just thought it was for ammo crates, but you can’t carry those with medcrates, so… ¯_(ツ)_/¯
Thanks!
It was the same issue with Vermintide, and like Vermintide you’ll hear funny banter if someone grabs ammo/health when they don’t need it. It’s going to take a while for people to understand the mechanics of this game and play it proper. Even regarding med and ammo kits, I see players take them all the time and never once deploy them. They give such huge advantages.
Eventually, players will also ease off the trigger since a good portion of each mission should use melee, especially on harder difficulties. There’s just not enough ammo to go trigger happy with endless waves of enemies.
There’s a small bullet icon in the lower left that displays a rough estimate of your squadmate’s ammo, and the characters will complain vocally when someone takes ammo they don’t need, but I think this really should come up in basic training. Not much needed, just a “Pay attention to your squadmates’ status, here’s where the UI is.”
It would be helpful for the ammo reserve counter below your current magazine ammo to reflect what colour your own icon would be though, I constantly forget what my max ammo is and it’d be great to have a quick reference of ‘Squadmates are on yellow or white, I’m on orange, I’m going to take this ammo pack.’…
That said, I’m more often fuming at my squadmates for not taking the resources I leave for them when they need it. e.g: I’m at 50% health, my squadmate is on 20%, and there’s one charge left on the Medicae station. I point it out with the tag, then move on, but my squadmate completely ignores it and goes down two rooms later and I’m left thinking ‘great, I should’ve taken it myself’.
