Simple as that. Sometimes it could be a life saver, especially on higher difficulties. Will work like this:
You press 6 button on your keyboard (by default)
Your character is shown holding an ammo satchel in their hands
Hints are appearing on your screen, telling you to either press LMB or RMB to share your ammo:
LMB: you will throw/pass a small pouch of ammo holding 50 standard ammo units to the intended recipient you aim at (same way as you can pass other objects during a mission)
RMB: you’ll drop 200 standard units of ammo on the ground in a form of ammo crate anybody can take it from by 50 units per draw attempt
In both cases, you lose corresponding amounts of ammo yourself (you should have at least that amount to begin with, for it to work ofc)
P.S.
I also thought it will be useful, while you are in this mode, if game would show current amount of ammo each of your teammates have above their heads (just some gauge) - so it would be easier to see who you need to give it to using LMB
What about players that educate themselves and come to loot ammos when we spam ping ammos bags or boxes?
If they implement what you propose, I refuse to spend my time at checking chests and be the ammo slave of the players that want to rush.
You won’t see me sharing ammos with rushers (but could with good teammates)
It actually could be a minor problem in randoms. One more way for the toxic rando to whinge when you don’t give him ammo after he pissed away all of it.
That’s fine if you don’t need it, others who didn’t “educate themselves” and just here to play the game may, still. It’s a coop game, and this is the basic cooperation feature. Sharing is caring!
I see, on constant basis, numerous threads of complaints that somebody takes all the ammo without thinking about the squad. So, people are complaining about ammo shortages due to other players’ actions already and will keep complaining. Ability to share actually could prevent many of such complaints, as most of those people don’t hog the ammo because of ill intent - they just see something and grab it until they are full. They can as easily share it later as they hogged it before, if asked.
“Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.”
I always play in collaboration, but not without players that think only to register the highest amount of damages on their scoreboard and want to rush all the time…
Best I have found, two guys that were waiting at airlock sas when we, 2 players, where fighting a BoN alone without any path to avoid it.
(And before you say it… No it was not a big deal to kill it… It just show how several are acting in game)
Too many players either hog all resources or never slow down to look, and then expect others to bend to their needs. Heck I have even gamed with Veteran class players that want to pick up grenades so they are always on hand instead of use in moderation so their grenade buff is always ticking over. Sorry your logic is kind of flawed with the current mentality of the player base.
You tell me that I can give a laser charger so he can have more grenades for his grenade launcher? Nonsense.
It is more tactical if players think before taking ammo, or letting others take it.
I have seen a pair of players who take ALL THE AMMO, even when they have 99% ammo already. BUT I have seen players who have no ammo, and let you take it, because they know you need it, brotherhood in battle, I just love it.
Giving the option to players to share ammo… will change the game style.
We will have a lot of problems between players because some don’t want to share ammo.
No, it’s quite the opposite - your logic is flawed here when you try assume mentalities of all other players, as if they were all the same. It’s a high-paced action game where most people act before they think, that’s kind of audience that plays such game, and this won’t change. What doesn’t mean they wouldn’t like to cooperate if they could - but they only can take ammo they occasionally found, they can’t give it back, so they are not allowed to cooperate, what causes the issue. They won’t “educate themselves”, won’t change their ways - this will always stay the same. The only way that can be changed is by giving players more tools so that can actually go back on some of their decisions there is no reason for them to be married to. Same as it’s already implemented for stims and crates which you can give away anytime
You and others opposing the change seem to demonstrate the kind of mentalities of “defending the old thing”, just because it’s something that already exist - out of made up fears of “people misusing it” . How do I know it’s made up? Because you already can share (or not) stims and ammo/medical crates in game, and it didn’t ruin the game, neither it created too much of drama due to somebody hogging them and refusing to share (not much enough to disrupt cooperation in a slightest, not to mention most of the time people do it just because they are inexperienced and forgetful).
You can only bicker so and so much, within a certain context. There won’t be any more bickering about “non-sharers” than we already have if something like that added, those who are triggered by that behavior are ALREADY complaining, the only thing that will change is the topic of their complaints (instead of “ammo hogs” to “ammo hogs refusing to share”, but that’s irrelevant. At the same time, people will start sharing ammo just naturally, same way as people just inject me with their stims all the time without me even asking (I do the same when I feel like it) - reducing number of conflicting situations (not much to complain about if the person who hogged the ammo then shared it with you without you even asking).
it’s crazy how many people don’t click on a damn box even if it’s in their way. i’m not speaking about plasteel and diamantine (which i still collect although i have enough), it’s ammo and the occasional medkit hidden in them. and when i ping a box they keep running away and spamming “i need ammo”. no idea how people can be this oblivious to everything around them.
