Stop asking for Weapon Nerfs in a TEAM GAME

No, the moderate most voiced position is to nerf the outliers. You are asking me to ignore that and instead read thru the minority of wallpaper posts and pretend the radical position is the mainstream!

Why would i do that? To please you?

Its also impossible to have any sort of discussion when everything you say is under a microscope, while other people get a pass, isn’t it?

Yeah a lot of stuff that actually makes no sense and goes on unexplained in any fashion whatsover, but because gpk said its okay and you are busy putting Bob in his place anyways :+1:

I still believe, as may do, that a proper regular ultimate (non-havoc) difficulty should be balanced in such a way that it provides a real challenge, requiring 4 good players to play well with a fair amount of coordination to earn a win.

and I stopped pugging years ago as it was more frustrating than challenging for us.

Why? Why should Auric be any of that when there’s a Havoc console on the ship? Why should Auric be something that should accommodate premade with nearly 10k hours in terms of challenge?

WHYYYYYYY?

Yeah and the stuff you said is actually based on nothing but you coping and hoping that the recent nerfs will be followed and yield the results you hope for. Until that happens me not seeing the forest as you call it is actually describing the current existing reality as it is!

Did the game got easier because of the recent nerfs? Yes it did!

Did the patch that changes that happened? No it didn’t!

Do you have any clue whatsoever what the next batch of nerfs and balances gonna be? No you don’t!

You are not seeing the forest either because it doesn’t exist yet, you are imagining it and hoping you gonna like it. But why not stomp on Bob while you wait, right?

I think it would

When I play in Auric with something like Combat Axe and there’s no Inferno staff Psyker on the team, I feel like everyone is putting in the effort

Not really and idk how you reached that conclussion

I see now. You can’t wrap your head around the idea of “expectations” and assume that everyone is cheering and celebrating over the recent balance changes. When in reality, everyone agrees that there needs to be more done to bring the game into a truly balanced state. You saw people say “this is a step in the right direction,” thought “but it’s easier now,” and literally cannot comprehend that people are waiting to see what Fatshark does next.

Not a single person has told you “no, the game is balanced now!” and in fact almost everyone has agreed with you on “the game is easier.” But continue playing the victim I guess.

we actually do

like we can just assume none of it will come to pass but why? we can only work off the info we have in good faith

fatshark wants to bring down player powerlevels and enemy spam a bit to make the game more thoughtful again = good idea
fatshark nerfs crusher spawnrates, nerfs uncanny and buffs inferno staff = following that idea but making a big mistake
fatshark says coming up next are more adjustments to make the game less spammy and feel thoughtful = will be good if they dont mess up the execution

i don’t even know what you’re triyng to gloat about. i’m fine waiting for the changes to reach a cohesive state of improvement

Of all the things you can criticize Fatshark for, too many nerfs is not one of them. If anything they seem to lean towards buffs for the most part.

Unfortunately some blessings/weapons are so powerful they basically break the game. And in that case they need to do something.

I think you are wrong to think that stuff like this would last for long.

The people that play this game are quite okay and will at large adjust quickly, with the already very much present drive to do it fast and as efficiently as possible reasserting itself again far sooner than you think!

You are asking for few weeks of harder Auric at best!

Because you want the Auric harder for everyone, not just for yourself, right?

Do i need to remind you how much can an experienced player with thousands of hours under his belt upset a match for the three other guys? Especially since we are talking about a game mode that has quickplay and no partyfinder lobby

no, people just do that because infinite cleave stuff is so op and clears the whole screens so the game becomes “rush ahead until you find something that nobody removed yet”
you literally mathematically can’t do the same amount of horde killing speed with a weapon with a cleave profile that isn’t just 100-100-100-100-100 (infinite) like the inferno staff is so it would naturally slow the game down and cause less “rushing for hitmass”

you seemingly dont understand the issue fundamentally. when people have warframe room clearers the gameplay is just “find the next room that isnt empty yet”, when people no longer have warframe room clearers the gameplay is “enemies are here and we will now fight them manually”

soemtimes it feels like people forgot darktide isnt meant to be an incremental cookie clicker game or diablo-like where you just do the mission for the achievement and the enemies are just visuals for you to clear. the actual moment to moment gameplay is supposed to involve fighting enemies that fight back

They buffed tanks again big sad for me and the boys

BF2 was peak for me. Well, until I discovered the Project Reality mod then that became king and I sunk thousands of hours into it. Perhaps too dry for some but that level of realistic mil-sim combined with the simplistic beauty of BF2 controls/bindings made for an absolute perfect gaming experience for me. They added true ballistics and audio feedback to gunfire and added all sorts of amazing QoL updates on top of loads of bespoke and enormous fun maps.

It ruined all vanilla BF games though as they always felt too arcadey after that, even BF2. So of course all the series after that felt embarrassingly childish for my tastes, because compared to BF2 they were all ultra arcade.

That said, I couldn’t stand ARMA due to the over-designed complexity of the controls where you practically had to bind a key to each finger digit. You almost run out of keys once everything was bound to the keyboard. When you’re trying to sneak across a vast map then get ambushed you don’t want to have to cross reference a list of keybindings like some sort of idiot attempting some orienteering on a battlefield.

I really should try SQUAD I guess. Heard good things

No, that wasn’t even remotely the context for that for Christ sake!

I came to a thread and saw the OP being pilled on for having an objectively controversial opinion, with people farming karma on him while beating him over his head with reality that doesn’t exist and was contrary to what just recently happened!

You got recent nerfs and it made the game easier, right? Is it really a good time to high horse and pile on a guy with claims that you want nerfs to make the game harder?

I admittedly got lost in the process and made some BS, but lets not pretend that pilling on a guy for an opinion while you stomp him with a promise of uncertain yet to happen future that is in direct contradiction to the present changes is some sort of a virtue!

But fair enough, sorry i made some bad calls

Also Scipo, to highlight the amazing quality of this discussion i will now entertain a guy whose ‘gotcha’ is the notion that we all play with Inferno psyker in our team every match 24/7!

yeah sure, awesome 10/10 amazing :+1: :+1:

Oh so you actually assumed that the current batch of nerfs will make the game easier?

You know it would be so much easier for me to accept that i’m wrong without this intellectual shortsighted vapidity being thrown at me just for the sake of it!

BattleBit Remastered was a great time before the dev team found out about hookers and cocaine.

what causes someone to seethe this hard? it was a normal statement and you just whine like that lol

do you just come here to keep your cortisol levels high? go do something with your time that isnt whining at people who are smarter than you and understand reality better than you

i’m not the one just starting with dismissive insults so dont report my post out of anger

Exactly. Finishing the mission is barely a reward for the experienced players because we’re not gaining anything useful from winning. The actual moment-to-moment gameplay is the reward, because it’s super engaging and fun when there isn’t some OP weapon/build trivializing everything.

You are one deliberately targeted ragebait post away from a heart attack, take a break from the forums lmfao

I’m one of those that would rather not have a skill tree. Besides making the game harder to balance. The trees have been notoriously broken or don’t explain well what they do.

Nodes that don’t work, nodes that were supposed to make you have toughness damage resistance but did the opposite by making you weaker. To nodes that are so bad but worded good so the casual player will pick it without realizing it doesn’t do anywhere close to the node next to it.

People who like the talent trees act like it’s character customization and better builds like they are creating a unique recipe, instead the strongest builds get found pretty quickly then everyone just copy pastes the build in because taking the time to learn and memorize just for it to change again and again while fatshark is balancing them out is a pain.

Make vermintide core skills, then balance the weapons to do what they are designed to do and be able to do that at every difficulty level by adding a modifier for game mode or difficulty.

A vermintide rat can down a team member making every horde and encounter dangerous. Darktide spams you with the weakest enemies that the only thing players fear is server lag or unlucky bomber grenade placement in the worst location for it, luckily fire damage isn’t as bad as before so that’s more annoying than anything else

Do note that at least in vermintide 2 the damage of the enemies down-scales with the size of the horde.
So a single clan rat that spawned behind you can easily take out 50% of your health, while the same clan rat in the middle of a horde barely tickles you (even on legend and catalysm)
Not sure if this is a thing in darktide.

Honestly, maybe friendly fire should make a return in darktide, would surely cut down on a fair bit of all the various types of ranged spam that is currently present.

I haven’t played since the recent changes, but I’ll just accept as truth that the game is now easier because the crusher reduction outpaced the weapon nerfs.

I admit to some skepticism about Fatshark’s ability to follow-up these recent changes with more changes that balance things more appropriately, at least in a reasonable timeframe. BUT, if they WERE going to do that successfully, these initial changes would be necessary in order to set that up. Power creep has gotten out of control, and both player power and enemy spawns need to be reigned in in order to prevent further power creep. It seems like a step in the right direction. But I have to agree that it wouldn’t necessarily feel that way right now if the game is overall easier. I hope it doesn’t have to feel that way for too long, and I’m encouraged by Fatshark’s recent messaging about balance, but I’ve learned not to hold my breath.

Regarding nerfs in a co-op game: good balance is necessary in order to give players the opportunity for meaningful skill expression in the face of meaningful challenges, including in co-op. Skill expression in the face of challenge is what I and many others find fun about this game. If another player is able to trivialize the challenges pitted against the team by using poorly-balanced skills or weapons, that reduces the challenge and the opportunity for skill expression for me. Thus reducing fun.

None of this would matter to you if your main source of enjoyment comes from simply winning regardless of the means. If you just want to win and don’t value overcoming challenge with skill expression, I think it would be better to play an easier difficulty rather than to rely on overpowered weapons/abilities (either yours or those of other players) to enable harder difficulties.

When extremely powerful outliers in the game are not nerfed, it causes the devs to instead increase enemy density and carapace spam in an attempt to preserve challenge. This effectively enforces a meta of relying on the outliers, as the game essentially becomes balanced around them, while the non-meta options only become less viable. Take the thunder hammer as a good example. None of this is healthy for the game, in my opinion, and so nerfs become necessary for good balance.

Finally: our abilities and weapons should NOT be balanced around Havok. Either Havok should be balanced around them, or we all just need to accept that Havok isn’t meant to be balanced. I think balancing around Havok is one of the greatest dangers to the overall health and longevity of this game.

Without friendly fire it barely feels like we’re playing Imperials.

Give up and move on my man. Do something enjoyable with your time. They don’t care, despite the reality of both quickplay auric and Havoc games being vastly different aka “most lobbies you have to carry other people, and playing with off-meta builds is difficult already in 99% of cases”.

i certainly don’t ever feel like this in quickplay and i played more quickplay than havoc lately

i can bring whichever silly old build I want but auric is sort of undertuned even for those and when a teammate brings a meta loadout i’ll mostly be walking through areas without fighting
