Does anyone else think that the Trapper’s net is just crooked in its function?
I mean, what logic is it that the net can go through about 3 Crushers, 2 Maulers and a Plague Ogryn…
Must have some factor about it where it can go through solid matter like a plasma gun shot.
It would be truly brilliant if Trappers could only shoot their nets at you when they have clear line of sight, otherwise they trap their own people. Heck, that would be funny, if they missed you and “bagged” one of their own
No doubt due in part to how literally the only testing & feedback Obesetuna actually hears - much less pays attention to - are the sweat lords that make the “community testers”. And they are just fine with the “challenge” of having random nets flying out of Crushers guts at them.
Its almost as if this studio is hellbent on following Blizzards playbook but failed to comprehend the Not in “Do NOT do this. Period” header.
PS
Ah yes, the shill from the inside saying “trust me bro, its not like that”. Somehow I find that hard to swallow given the overwhelming evidence to the contrary. Sorry I’m gong to believe Fatshark’s actions over the words of someone who already has a vested interest in defending the studio.
In my opinion this isn’t even the worst part. The real problem is that after all this time the special’s sound is still not playing many times, making a net flying through bulwarks literally impossible to dodge.
I also find the majority of the elites and specials very well done, but the net is clearly abused…
And I agree with the comment above; I also have the impression that FS today listens to a core group of hardcore gamers who are clearly above the rest and who are increasingly turning people off the game.
Today, I find the difficulty levels far too high. Up until Damnation, the game is quite easy, and Auric has too many allies who aren’t up to the task, so solo players without friends to play with just become frustrating.
And Havoc has become a mess, literally.
That is another thing that makes trappers annoying as hell. Plain bad design on top of long-standing bugs that Obesetuna just refuses to fix for good. When the only warning that might help you avoid a infin-cleave instant-lose attack only actually works sometimes it makes a fustrating issue into a rage-inducing one.
Both issues could and should have been corrected but clearly the developers have other priorities. Such as making sure the FOMO-run store is stocked with reskins and working. Some of us still remember how for a while the game would crash near-constantly, but the devs made darn sure that the store was up and running.
It’s very rare that there’s no audible warning, unlike with the Plasma Gunners. But I disagree that it’s worse than the Trapper’s net flying through enemies like it’s defying all physics and logic…
If enough people suggest to Fatshark, they’re more likely to sort it out. I’d bloody LOVE if they did. Havoc still needs a ‘join in progress’ system much like the main mission terminal has, so it gives people a chance to join if someone crashes out and doesn’t return or something. Havoc with bots is a guaranteed fail =/
Yes but I suspect fixing the net is more complex as it currently goes through mobs and some wall assets like wagon’s doors and some pillars.
It would require them to rework their physics and they seem to have less ressources allocated to DT than their new IP so they will most likely never care at this point.
Yeah. I haven’t had one on ones with every single Playtester, but the ones I have? Darktide would benefit significantly from Fatshark listening to youse more often. None of the Playtesters who I’ve spoken to thought that these Duelling Sword “nerfs” were enough, just to name an example.
Fatshark has a bizarre monkey’s paw relationship that comes from them just…not doing what the community wants as their first choice ever.
They will release a terrible Player Retention™ setup as their first resort, the community will riot, Fatshark will slap some fixes onto it that salami-slice at the system without changing the core problems being pointed out, they will go silent for months or years, and only then will they release a half-decent version of that system.
They did it for itemization. They did it for missions.
Havoc is still in the salami-slicing stage.
Cosmetics are, I believe, beginning to enter that stage with the hat bundles and the like.
People can near-unanimously come onto the forums telling them about a problem and be backed up by playtesters and Fatshark will dig in their heels and refuse to budge.
The way you describe Fatshark, that sounds less monkey’s paw and more parasite
In all seriousness though, I came to Darktide quite late and so far most things - havoc excluded - they’ve actively worked on and sorted out, both minor and major stupid shite.
If enough people suggest to them to sort out how crappy the Trapper’s net is, I’m very sure they’ll put it on the to do list.
Maybe in the next update, along with fixes for Havoc, including ways of making it difficult in engaging ways, not spamming enemies who are absolute ammo sponges such as that dog sh*t Rotten Armour or Encroaching Garden. No ammo pick ups is more interesting than that. Many others have agreed.
Editing kinda messed it up because I was originally gonna describe how some stuff is…kinda-sorta what people said they wanted but then done with Player Retention™ nonsense
That sounds like an awfully complicated way, instead, just edit the Trapper’s programming so that they only fire their net when there’s a completely clear line of sight to the target, otherwise they just wait there with their thumb up their arse like a good little girl
I would really appreciate if they (FS) just came out and said, “Look, we want at least one special that no matter how high you raise your skill ceiling, this one is still going to take you down occasionally even if it has to use busted feedback”. At least then I would understand somewhat their design choices with converting the hook rat into this buggy mess.
And admit that they aren’t god-level beings incapable of doing wrong? Perish the thought. They’re far too busy spending their time behind closed doors complaining about how the peons are at fault because they’re too stupid to to understand The Vision.
