Lately, assassins have been behaving extremely strangely. There are so many issues that I’m posting this in Feedback rather than Bugs.
They were always prone to behaviour that didn’t make sense, like super fast and super slow jumps, but the stuff I’ve been seeing recently feels… new?
On several occasions, I have seen Assassins move forward and then suddenly skip to a different location further ahead. Like an instant teleport.
I have also seen multiple instances of Assassins climbing and then teleporting to another area above that should have required another climb animation.
Sometimes I have seen Assassins literally APPEAR on top of players. I am not talking about missing their movement. I mean, literally, “assassin walks behind a wall and suddenly a friendly player is pounced” with only a single assassin in play.
Getting pounced the very same second as you hear “Yes Yes”.
Assassins randomly either splatting on level geometry (which is funny) or bouncing off it to hit players that should have successfully dodged them or never been jumped in the first place.
Way too often, they aren’t even facing you, start jumping and turn mid-flight. There is no way to predict this.
Often they fail a jump, hit the ground and INSTANTLY pounce a player without any wait time or a proper jump cue.
Sometimes they do their smoke bomb disappear act but stay in the same place, ready to attack again. This one’s definitely an old one.
Most of this cannot be attributed to connection issues. I am quite certain of that.
There are one or two strange behaviours with the other disablers but Assassins are just plain broken on every aspect of their implementation. I’ve played this game for 1600 hours, I can intercept normally behaving Assassins just fine, but no other special screws me over this often with erratic behaviour.
First of all, there will be those “experts” who come in here and will say that half of this is network/lag/whatever.
Sure.
I experienced most of these with latency around 60-70 as client. It’s only lower, when you host. And then my host confirms these behaviors.
One other thing is when I move/dodge out of the assassin’s way behind something, but it’s not full cover, so it keeps the line of sight, it just cannot jump me anymore. Then it freezes in movement like hunt dogs do in cartoons when they see prey and then starts SLIDING towards me in that frozen position.

its his teleport same for leeches when you tag them you can see for half a second where he tped, sometimes he bugs out and do that without smoke bombs
pathfinding idiotism yeah well
-quite unlucky spawn
he hits kills zone, there is probably quite close to geometry and he clipped through it a little

haha well archers do that soo often that you can’t predict where they shoot

they are sneaky, its diversion and its works like you see
This has been in the game from like the release of old haunts, afaik. Maybe it has existed before, but it’s rather rare.
Also has been in the game for a while.
Yep old
Also old one
Most of these have existed for a while or are just super rare. It’s not because they are old that they shouldn’t be adressed tho, so good post. One thing you could do is if you have NVIDIA gpu you can enable shadowplay and save the previous 5 minutes and then make a bug report or send them to devs pm’s. With ofcourse every possible info added, like ping/host client/certain options or mods installed.
General special issues are good, but it’s better to make specific ones as those are better at fixing the issue. But i get that there have been plenty of specific posts made already with vid proof and they don’t rlly get fixed so i think they prob can’t fix it? Or it’s a very hard process?
Well flying enemies (and weird spawns) means the host have some issue on calculating everything (it’s a gale that’s cpu intensive).
So not only linked to internet, you could have a good host connection wise which still have issues calculating everything.
Climbing issues are not related.
While I’m quite amused by the fact that “teleport” in this game means "moving so fast that you can see the garbled vertices of the 3d model zoom across time and space for like 3 frames, that’s not what I’m talking about. They literally walk and then suddenly they’re several meters ahead. I know what it looks like when Assassins move on a bad connection, and that wasn’t it either.
I´d like to make honorable mention of a particular case when they are looking in a players direction, doing this “buildup” pose before a leap.
The weird behavior that sometimes happens with this is that sometimes they will seemingly lock onto someone, face them and do the pose but when they actually jump it can go sideways or straight up backwards with them turning in the air to land on someone behind them.
…
And gods i absolutely detest both the “no warning” and “1 second pre pounce” cases too.
Can confirm many of these happening in my matches too. The most frequent one I’m facing for the past time is the fact that they can jump on you without even facing. So you see them, but usually if they don’t face you it means they will jump on other target (which makes them an easy pick), but for some reason they still jump on YOU even though they didn’t even face you.
They can jump a gap like almost every other enemy, they just don’t have an animation for it so they are ready to pounce as soon as they do. Some bosses do this too.
