Some more Feedback after Launch

We want to be respected not siphoned for cash. Been playing since Vermintide 1 and that game had some fine value and features for it’s day. Vermintide 2 was also wonderful and I could play both Offline.

Between the working cash shop over the missing crafting features, the RNG weapon shop with very few options that only cycles on the hour and the lack of gear we can find after each mission, I’m starting to become disillusioned by the game.

It feels like there's not going to be any point to playing harder difficulties in this game either because the whole reason we were motivated in Vermintide 1 and 2 to play on Cata was to maybe find cosmetics as a mission reward. Remember those days?

Not it feels like the only real reason to play on higher levels is for more crafting mats and in game currency.

Also as other's have mentioned the fact you can't just buy the proper amount of Aquila for a pack is just downright predatory on people.

At first I was honestly happy that you made grims and tomes spawn in seperate missions but now I wish you'd just stick to the old formula and made it a 40k skin. I realize everything is just to get your Live Service product on the block.

Heck, we’re even stuck with RNG missions that take forever to cycle, at least take a note from deep rock and don’t let missions linger for more than 15 minutes because nobody wants to replay the same mission for two hours.

If I wanted to be robbed of my Dignity and money, I’d go play Destiny 2 or some other live service title that doesn’t care about my time. I always felt that Vermintide had value because you weren’t beholden to a server’s data, it felt like we purchased a product that we could play and enjoy with our friends. Vermintide 2 was much the same and while I was skeptical of premium cosmetics, I see the people who cried wolf were right.

I feel like Fatshark cares more about a cash shop and selling skins over features and players time.

Not to mention EVERYTHING is RNG now. The maps we pick are RNG’d, the weapons we can buy are RNG’d, the cosmetics we can buy from the armorey are RNG’d, the limited time acquisitions ARE RNG’D!!! At least sell some level 300 white gear that’s just a cookie cutter standard so if we want to trade something out for another option we can. Nobody wants to log in every hour just to see if they can get that weapon they wanted from the shop, we want to beat hard missions to get nice gear, not grind money to buy gear. We lose some of the satisfaction by you taking away that experience from us. We used to be able to craft gear that was mostly ok and work our way to getting red gear in Vermintide so we had options to at least make sure we had the loud out we mostly wanted and worked for that dream roll after.

Darktide feels like a lottery, sometimes the missions you like are around and other times you’re stuck with lights out for an hour and have to change difficulty to avoid it in quickplay.

speaking of Quick play, there’s honestly no real benefit to play it compared to Vermintide 2 when you were rewarded for risking quickplay. Right now it’s the only option aside from going on discord to make a premade instead. So we’re stuck with randoms who don’t want to work together sometimes on top of some of the prior issues.

I think initially, Darktidei s going to become quite frustrating due to just how much RNG is involved right now and how little control we really have over trying to fix weapons with bad rolls for example.

The cosmetic thing is a whole other issue and I get it, you need to make your money somehow but I wish you’d just stick to asking for 10$ for a skin for a character ( a full set not just one piece , any more is a rip off and I’d rather spend that kind of money on the actual plastic crack ).

Hell, I would have honestly rather purchased Darktide for 60$ over having a cash shop.

So Fatshark, if you’re going down this route of live service, at least keep the community together. If you’re charging for season pass’s and cosmetics, what I really need from you to justify this is to not charge for DLC like you did in the past games. If you make new maps and I see a price tag, it’s going to be a no because unless you go back to making the game respect players time at least by letting us craft, I can’t say rightly that darktide is a good product in comparison to launch V2.

At least we could craft at launch in vermintide 2.

I think this touches on some important points that people will start noticing more and more as the “shine” of a new release wears off. There are some very questionable design decisions in this game that before long will have a pretty negative impact on its longevity. Things, I may add, that VT/VT2 already did much better. So why they went the way they did on all this RNG stuff for example is perpelexing…

I think what they were going for was something like Deep rocks missions where you have the separate zones with large world maps that players do missions in. Deep rock is generated biomes but I hope it gets the idea across.

So in theory, it makes sense to visit these locations over and over to do different things. My issue is the selection of things to do feels so very stagnant due to how long it takes for missions to cycle on the hub map. I will literally play the same mission to fix the damn smelter maybe 10 times before I play a new mission and that’s really starting to make me frustrated because I didn’t sign up to play the same mission 10 times. I signed up to play a game where I could visit various locations in a evening session with friends in 40k with the gameplay of Vermintide. Vermintide 1 had a nice little horde mode as well that people forget existed. They never added it in Vermintide 2 because people would farm mats through the horde mode and make orange weapons to then take on cata with, so the devs never added it back in Vermintide 2 because in their minds, less people online in quickplay = bad.

I can’t believe I’m saying this but Vermintide 2 was really such a unoptimized package but, it was a complete game on launch. With a loose story we could follow and characters we killed under the guise of a loose narrative.

I have no idea what Dann Abnett contributed to the game other than some help with the world building because the story so far in Darktide is garbage. Who’re the leaders of the mobian 6th? Can we help kill key figures in the mobian 6th and maybe see some of our actions pay off for example?

On another note, where the hell is the chaos spawn in Darktide hiding? It was literally in the opening cinimatic and suddenly a chaos spawn can’t even be put into Darktide when it’s the same game engine!? I get it’s not as simple as a copy and paste but what the crap is going on there!? Don’t put a chaos spawn in the trailer and not the game. Don’t tease us like that. Oh but we get a daemon host in a nurgle cult for some reason.
