Gentle reminder that telling other people how to play, or to tell them they’re playing badly, whilst you’re the only player awaiting rescue, is really such a bad look.
Played a H40 where the psycher died or got down multiple times and kept telling the rest of us how badly we were playing.
Then I got killed trying to rescue him and got a spew of text telling me how bad I am for playing slightly off meta. He kept telling the zealot that he was “really bad" despite the zealot performing really well imo.
So yeah, if you get downed then learn some humility please.
It’s very frustrating to have all that thrown at you whilst you’re trying to navigate a H40 mosh pit.
Edit: fyi we completed the mission despite all that…and he still carried on berating despite being killed numerous times.
This works both ways tbh. A stealth knife zealot repeteatly dumping armored waves on the team and watching from the cuck corner while they overwhelm you can be quite demoralizing. But fortunately nobody plays like that on high level Havoc.
But yeah, I agree, I remember two Smite psykers calling me “typical whiny zealot” while waiting for the rescue when I kept ressing them from the totem pole to totem pole and the only thing I typed was something like “PLAY THE OBJECTIVE PLEASE”. It’s just bad.
As soon as someone starts pinging early in the match to go here go there, when we as a team are generally already heading there, I take it as a warning sign that the person might be a little frustrated with people in general.
Same with people typing too much in chat about what people should do. They may just be trying to help, but I generally take these things as a sign that someone has had a string of bad luck, bad games, bad players or just be bad and frustrated at these things.
I often resist temptation to type in chat at all other than a silly comment or jesting “for the emprah” or a gg at the end.
Being berated is not good for moral and the more you mash the “For the emprah” button, the higher the win rate. Its scientifically proven in a study carried out by the Emprah himself using commissars and a las pistol.
If it was quickplay. I would just leave the mission. But guessing if whole party not H40 here then someone gets demote on mission fails affecting other 1-2 players.
They want to provoke a response and satisfaction of doing so.
They want you to use chat/voip and know they got on your nerves.
You can’t undo years of their character of right or wrong by words or voip in one occasion. Tomorrow and in future that’s how they are.
After playing for so long and having plenty of clutches on my belt, I learned to don’t take those kinds of toxic comments seriously, if I’m clutching and someone gives bad advice or gets mad that I die I either clown on them or say something like “what do you mean you are not supposed to eat 5 overheads?” (as a joke).
I will say tho, once I was in the totem of shame in mercantile final event, a psyker was struggling with 3 plogryns on him by himself, taking damage, running around the middle, I typed “abuse ledges”, after a few he climbed the stairs and slided off one of the ledges near the rescue, clutching the game, so I think that was helpful.
Humility is something humans don’t do well at (whole hardwired to equate loud & arrogant with confident & competent bit) and gamers tend to be even worse at that.
Be nice though. Seen too many cases where people get pissy because you aren’t doing things the way THEY think it should be done. Even more when things go utterly crazy due to someone elses stupidity, and its usually the idiot plus friends who are the loudest.
If someone has a workable solution, by all means speak up. If not, then shut up and let the person devote their attention to solving the issue at hand. Especially if your idiocy was the cause of the mess in the first place.
Havoc’s rank decay. FS never intended it to have toxic effects, but they wanted to add “tension”. There is already enough tension during mission, rather than the consequences after it ends.
They should by now know the effect in negative social interaction to revise this.
Problem. Rank decay isn’t about causing “tension”. That is just the handy PR-approved excuse. It’s purpose is to keep people playing without having to add new rewards, maps, etc that require investing time aka money. All based on the players fear of possibly missing out if something does happen to get added that requires- for example - a certain number of sucessful missions at a specific havoc rank or above to unlock. Othewise known as FOMO (its not just about stores).
Its not going away until Darktide reaches the same conditions that killed the old Honor system in WoW.
The “advice" and scorn wasn’t mission related at all. Just about meta weapons and attack patterns. Basically he’s read about meta attacks and expected only that.
He told me I “should just be spamming light attack nonstop” as ogryn. I had a Paul, not a bully. And IMO I was doing exceptionally well with my routine of taunt, heavy, push, heavy, Special, heavy, repeat.
I was taking very little damage in most the mission so I was super confused when he started talking.
It was a stimms/rotten/garden hellscape and he also scolded me for constantly backing off once I had taunted! (In the face of sometimes 10 crushers, 5 bulwarks,10-20 maulers, and all the rest.). Like letting that lot surround you is somehow a good idea?!
But hey ho.
Anyone barking criticism whilst awaiting rescue is pretty much a guaranteed block for me.
uh
the only thing someone waiting for rescue should say it what enemy activity they see, else just be quiet, they’re the one downed and not you. but there’s barely time to type stfu in that game. i would have left if it wasn’t a havoc game.
Best be one piece of advice per game, if that. Don’t come off as commanding others how to play, just give a quick “hey can you stick closer to the team please” or “you’re playing too aggro”.
Played a game the other day where someone was spamming a voice command, and when I asked politely for them to stop they obliged. Being nice works, people.
is this still a thing? it was recommended by some youtuber in ye olden days of darktide because players didn’t ping at all, and i was also guilty of it back then, but i think most people realized how annoying this is.
Now I bind tag to mouse scroll wheel down. I can do a quick spin into the distance to highlight a whole row of enemies in one move, so it acts as multiple presses. Easier than tapping keyboard.
I remember leaving and then blocking a Zealot over him doing this sh*t REALLY aggressively. He threw A LOT of slurs directed at the rest of us and was just generally being an idiot about dying ONCE.
That’s not the biggest deal, but he continued to go off about it after we rescued him. My teammates refused to votekick him but they could’ve been foreign and therefore unaware of what was being said.
But yeah, that’s why I ended up leaving. I can handle a momentary outburst while you’re tied up even if it’s toxic, but if you continue to act up after we rescued you? I’ll just remove myself from the situation and let you learn how to carry yourself the hard way.
I like to add in a little “damn” or “poop” or if I get blown off a ledge I put something like “I really flew” or “I could see my house!”
Have you ever had a Crusher 360 and oneshot you at the last possible millisecond during their Overhead because another Player used Stealth to dump the Aggro on you?
That’s happened to me a couple of times, it’s a little bit annoying but I always take it in good spirits. Assumedly, those Players don’t actually expect the Crusher to 360 on another Player and follow up with the Overhead, so it’s not really their fault. I usually type “Elf? ELF?!” in chat when it happens.
Might have been the same psycher lol as he kept telling us we should be running towards the huge crowd of crushers with stimms/rotten/garden upon taunt, instead of what we chose to do and pick off the crushers whilst constantly backing off (the best way to not get unalived).
I guess he didn’t see the correlation between running towards a h40 armoured moshpit and constantly dying lol.
