Always good to keep in mind too, if they’re fuming over a video game like that, they’re miserable. They will continue to be miserable after the match is done and you’re already off to the next drop. As they say, misery loves company.

In the current state of Havoc, anyone that brings or tells you to bring smokes is a troll/griefer. They are trash and ranged enemies no longer an issue after the season 1 changes. All smoke users do is blind the team and prevent you from spotting specials, which are the №1 cause of havoc wipes

Redditors love smokes too. It’s kinda the generic situation of the worse the player, the harder they are going to root for something objectively bad because using it makes them special. Remember how much misinfo old Ogryn glazers spread when they were advocating against the Ogryn rework? Same goes for the smoke griefers:

  • muh smokes actually affect melee enemies!11 (they don’t, only the inital stagger affects melee enemies, which makes them sometimes switch targets, aka any stagger/stun interaction with the slot system)
  • muh smokes confuse ranged enemies!!1 (they don’t, it’s suppression from the other sources + default AI behavior to switch positions)
  • muh smokes are basically multi-charge bubble!11! (tell that to BoM, Captains, Snipers, Trappers, Flamers, etc)

tl;dr smokes are “meta” only for the bad delusional players

TBF whilst I find smoke quite annoying I have seen it proven to be quite useful on occasion in havoc when a vet has used it.

As an ogryn it does take some of the heat off the ranged firing squad and there are honestly few tools in havoc that can do that.

So smoke isn’t totally useless (in the eyes of this ogryn anyway!).

randoms go about their own ways anyways, much less put them vision blockers in the right spot 80% of the time.

other than havoc its a 100% nuisance, same with bubble.

while my oled monitor gives good contrast and hdr, that blue condom is blocking one’s vision when you almost never need to stay under it anyways.

yeah the odd 7 sniper lightshow is more relaxed that way but other than that….

like I said, havoc has its own rules but then again if I’d keep me the luxury of 3 premades we’d definately not settle for smoke :face_with_tongue:

Unironically have done the “silly comment in jest” many times whenever it occurs
if we all die I usually say - "that’s a win in my books :)” or “gg fellow gamers”

If I’m playing Ogryn I usually say “Bron” in response to everything since that’s the name of my ogryn
