Solutions for Long Term Viability

this is the most fun ive had since the cosmetics launched, that’s related to this game and tat’s sad as firetruck.

That’s fair I guess. IMO 80% was always intended to be the maximum value and it being falsely labeled as just “80%” was nothing more than an underhanded psychological trick to coerce people into perpetually grinding in search of something better.

Remember that originally we didn’t have numeric values in the stat screen. It was just bars. Nothing changed beyond us receiving a number to describe the length of the bar. Originally we weren’t supposed to notice that 80% was the real 100%

The code does allow for modifiers to go up to 100. Even if you inspect the weapon and go over the stats, the ranges it gives show the unattainable 100% values.

They might plan to introduce them at some point as a narrative development I suppose but I won’t hold my breath. My current weapons are typically sufficient.

Based upon my own experience made with Vermintide I can attest that it was one of the very, very few games in years of gaming that has hooked me up for more than 1000h.
Why?
After giving it some thought I have to say, that Vermintide had:

  • A ton of classes and weapons allowing you to try out new builds, weapons or playstyles. I’ve discovered some combinations of weapons or skills that have refreshed my VT2 experience even after 1000h of playing. Heck, I am sure there is still some stuff just waiting to be put into use.
  • Not perfect, but decent technical platform, with very fluid and responsive combat. Chopping heads or bashing hordes into oblivion never, ever gets old.
  • Last but not least: awesome people met while doing Okris challenges, playing weaves (retches) or just playing ever more hardcore Twitch modes, Fortunes of War, weekies or all at once. We had our own Discord server with a dozen of people chilling, playing, chatting.

Darktide fails to meet above criteria in all of the above mentioned aspects.

  1. The amount of classes is low. On top of that, testing new weapons, builds or blessings is bound with horrible grind layered with RNG, creating some hellish RNG onion that makes you cry when you try to cut through it.
  2. Server-Side hit and movement registration costs you precious miliseconds in fast paced game. Ghost hits, not registered dodges, jumpy movement can rob you from your precious moments of joy. It is nice, that you clutched solo the last 15 minutes of the map, here, take a pox hound to the face that you just shot, hit and dodged, but server was looking in other direction in this moment. Oh, and enjoy neverending loading screens.
  3. The hub is not encouraging any socializing. In Taal Horn’s Keep you could play more rounds with some awesome group of randoms that ended up expanding your friend’s list. Mouriningstar take more modern approach known from online dating: meet up, do the thing, never see each other again.

I said it once or twice in my posts already: our group of VT2 maniacs dropped Darktide one-by-one due to lack of content, techincal issues and the biggest factor: RNG deciding everything in the game.

Yeah, even just choosing a map to play is unnecessarily RNG.
