Is it true that you can’t do solo play in Darktide?
Yes, it is. However you can use mods for it.
One More Try (Many More Try): you can que for a map without other players with the standard bots. This has progression. One More Try (Many More Try) at Warhammer 40,000: Darktide Nexus - Mods and community
Solo play: you don’t have progression here. But with this you can use other mods. Example: Tetrium 5, where you use your own bots. Solo Play at Warhammer 40,000: Darktide Nexus - Mods and community
First… Yes, we still lack of a true solo that would permit to collect materials…
However, if you ONLY want to play in solo, you can get lot of mods for this:
The base
Commands for missions (disable bots, auto start etc.)
Cheats / commands to test
Disable spawns of enemies type
Use your own characters as bots
Also, you can even add monsters with this mod:
Difficulty / combat tweaks
Final word. You can also use mods that are under work
weapon customization : to tweak your weapon appearance
Loadout config : to test any weapon with any distribution any blessing and any perk but… Only in solo and training room
Correct me if I am wrong but this mod is not solo. You have to be in a strike team (so 2)
The mod description says:
“You have to be in a Strike Team, and the mission will be private.”
I’m just stunned that it’s not a base-game feature. I had to come confirm because I just thought my friend was joking with me.
The VT games allowed bots by default, so we know they can do it.
Are they going to add it? It seems a no-brainer to add in. I mean, they still never even added a vote-pause, right? I’ve never been able to get a group playing any FS game because my friends have kids and lives, they get called away at times and protecting your allies is a pain.
In the mod options you can remove the private game option. Now when you choose mission seed from https://maelstroom.net copy into the game. When you start the mission you will wait for the lobby then simply press ready. And if you choose a mission from few hours ago there is a huge chance you will be alone there.
So it is a solo with standard bots and most importantly with progression.
Probably played like 40 missions like this and nobody joined me.
Ohhhhhhh mmmmmmmmyyyyyyyy gooooood
You re my heroe…
I will be able to test anything crazy alone…
And it is pretty good for dailies too.
For example:
- melee kills(better choose high intensity)
- mission run/mission without death. Sedition Magistrati Oubliette is doable under 10 minutes. Personal record is 7 minutes.
Unpopular opinion but this is a coop game, solo mode shouldn’t be a priority at all.
FS is already glacially slow with their updates, I would prefer that they don’t waste time/effort/energy to properly setup a solo mode. There are plenty of single player games out there, coop is a very niche market.
Hopefully they add it one day! Having said that, unless they drastically improve bot behavior I don’t see playing damnation + solo.
Originally it was on their priority list. Last time someone asked in this forums, Catfish responded that it is no longer a top priority, they wanted to do content and (at the time) the Xbox release.
It was promised on launch - it should be delivered.
For left for dead esque games this is basically industry standard.
And what good SP games set in 40K are out there? With DT level of gun play and atmosphere?
Furthermore there already is good single player, they only have to allow resource gathering for it.
They could very easily just remove the strike team requirement from private lobbies.
You are of course entitled to your opinion but I disagree.
PS
I find it quite funny that @FatsharkStrawHat likes a post containing the following:
It seems like:“see how lazy we are? How can anyone expect us to keep our promises!“
Fair enough! I’ve never tried single player but I assumed it would be insanely hard/impossible on damnation? The one but on my team here and there is usually useless whenever I pay attention to them. I can’t imagine 3 of them lol
Thank you for the well thought out response, I completely respect your opinion on the matter and far be it from me to tell you how to enjoy the game you paid for.
I tend to agree that removing the minimum of 2 players for private lobbies is the way to go. I suspect that they are avoiding this due to how instances get spun up for their games and this could potentially create a lot more load for the servers, but that shouldn’t be the consumers’ problem.
Also, I’m not trying to defend the fact that their priorities changed when launching the game, they committed to something and should have followed through. But if we look at Vermintide 2, Nurgle seems to have spread foot-in-mouth disease all the way to the FatShark offices because they announced so many things that they weren’t able to follow up on. Off the top of my mind: dedicated servers, versus mode, more than 3 rounds of allowing mods on official realms.
Last point, I didn’t say FS were lazy. I really don’t think they are but they are much slower than their peers in the gaming industry for launching updates and content. I don’t really want to fall into the discussion of why that’s the case, since it’s all speculation anyways. But I sure hope someone is steering the ship there to align their practices with community engagement…
I actually don’t get why the game is so focused on co-op. It’s nice if you want to play with friends, but it hardly seems necessary - DT seems to even play down disablers to a high degree, compared to VT.
The core gameplay loop works exceedingly well for solo play. The sheer number of gameplays by people doing true solos for all the 'tide games makes that obvious. Here in this thread people are pointing out mods that let you just do solo play, so . . . clearly it’s possible to implement.
Solo play should be the ONLY priority until its done. Hell even in console on xbox if you have a spare xbox set up nearby (i use my wife’s if she isint) you can get into pure solo with bots lobbies and they work okay (not great but okay) all the way up to Malice.
Literally the ONLY thing keeping solo play from being at least implemented is the bulls**t requirement for 2 players in private…but a while back Catfish stright up said they arent working on solo AT ALL
nope the 4 player co op game still doesnt have its solo mode. might be a mod that does it?
It exists as a mod, however one thing people should keep in mind, combat feels off in the same way feels with the Creature Spawner mod in the psy-lab. Unlike Vermintide 2 where one player was acting as a host, Darktide doesn’t work well when you have “0 latency” situation.
That’s funny, because Left 4 Dead, Left 4 Dead 2, Vermintide, Vermintide 2, and World War Z are all 4 player co-op games with solo private lobbies. Man, it’s almost like people expect to be able to only play with bots or their friends. I can’t imagine why that’s the case, I mean only Left 4 Dead, Left 4 Dead 2, Vermintide, Vermintide 2, and World War Z had this feature before Fatshark decided that this staple feature was unnecessary. Man, if only we had a precedence of Left 4 Dead, Left 4 Dead 2, Vermintide, Vermintide 2, and World War Z being 4-player co-op games with a solo w/ bots mode. Then we might have some ground to stand on.
Solo Mode is desperately needed. But given that you need an active internet connection to play this, not very likely which was another huge step back from Vermintide.
Big reason solo mode is needed is with VT, turns out bots are better than your average player.
Just adding a voice, again, to these threads as a Solo Play is direly needed (and was declared in its final stages of testing about a year ago).
I prefer playing with other players as such is the nature and the fun of the game. No question there.
But: network issues happen, solo experiments happen, no solo = no play (sometimes).
And it’s annoying.
The Solo Play announcement significantly influenced my decision to purchase, emphasizing that its absence would have deterred me from buying the product.
UTC+4 timezone here, Asia server. I’m a EU citizen (meaning I prefer playing with fellow EU/US gamers for better player interactions, but latency makes Asia server the better solution - and gamers there are great too - just different language).
Here’s what I got lately trying to play as usual:
Sometimes it’s a combination of 2004, 2001 and others. (trying to connect to the hub, mid-game, right after starting a game, erratically)
Unmodded client.
Using a VPN and playing on EU servers: no issue, stable connection/network and latency.
But high latency (about 220-250 ms, which is not ideal to play DT as you can imagine).
Also playing on Asia servers with other games like Insurgency Sandstorm (fast gameplay, latency is key) - no issue. So even if the routing could be dodgy for DT, it doesn’t fail with other games.
