agreed, i would really love to see a shockmaul with 2 vanguards for the heavy attacks or even just vanguard light attacks.
Which scoreboard mod is this?
Mine
Pick is too slow, and has no stagger this needs to be fixed.
yep, exactly that!
Mine staggers everything but maybe that’s the power blessings I use
BRANX pickaxe is fun to use with an amusingly goofy move set that i love but it has this godawful delay between H2>Lsweep that requires me to click 2-3 times or just lose my input. This needs fixing.
Bolt Pistol can click heads from ADS very well if the aim jank bug doesnt spoil my shots. But i stand by my previous assessment after a bunch more games that it needs more damage. Another thing i noticed is how decent it feels to shoot when Dance of Death is active. Its much more consistent and that really lets me click heads a lot better which in turn makes it feel more like a side grade to the revolver even with its inferior damage. So maybe enhancing its base accuracy a bit alongside damage buffs would be a good plan.
Which new weapons are worth using on auric damnation/maelstroms? Are any of them strong enough to replace other popular weapons like rashad axe, plasma gun, etc?
Can I just point out the obvious the only people who have both versions of the Bolter are humans NOT space marines it’s makes complete sense that the recoil is extremely powerful as it’s a weapon intended for the astrates it makes sense the recoil is a lot to manage in the hand of a basic human the bolter is the size of a damn microwave and the bolt pistol is that compressed into a one handed firearm that’s like the equivalent of someone who’s never touched a gun in their life trying to one hand an elephant rifle
Those are not Astartes bolters, the bolters we have are Arbites/Sororitas bolters, much smaller and far less powerful. If any wannabe Judge Dredd can wield one with no issue without wearing a power armor a veteran of the Astra Militarum, a zealot literally blessed by the Emperor himself and a sanctioned psyker with proper inquisitorial training should have no issue wielding one.
The unwieldiness of the bolt weapons only exist in game for balance reasons that don’t even make since the bolt weapons are completely outclassed in every way by conventional weapons
Recoil in general is a weird concept with Bolters. This is partly because Bolter’s are described in contradictory fashions, but also because they’re basically entirely constructions of Rule of Cool based on what some British gaming nerds could glean about firearms from magazines and movies in the mid 80’s rather than “does this actually make sense”.
If they’re Gyrojet-esque rocket propelled rounds, then recoil should be almost nothing, as most acceleration occurs outside the weapon (we’ll set aside the accuracy issues and why the real Gyrojet couldn’t hit the broad side of a barn as a result of this, or it’s minimum lethal range being several meters from the muzzle). Even with a booster charge, that should only be a fraction of the full kinetic force of the round.
Meanwhile, if the recoil is supposed to be huge, then that means significant kinetic energy is imparted to the round inside the weapon, and thus the need for a post-muzzle rocket stage would be unnecessary and just wasting space that could otherwise be devoted to explosive payload.
This isn’t even getting into the fact that Bolters are in various places described as shooting caseless ammo despite clearly having an ejection port and cases
Then of course we have a lore differentiation between Astartes Bolters and “normal” Bolters, but never any described differentiation in the ammo they use (if they’re both firing the same shells, the only differences should be in things like grip size and control locations as opposed to firing characteristics) and that such differentiation only really started to be addressed nearly two decades into 40k’s lifespan in the late 00’s (before the Dark Heresy line of RPGs this wasn’t ever really raised as far as I’ve seen).
Took a well-rolled (T4 Surgical and Deadly Accurate plus t3 weakspot damage and +25% flak) Bolt Pistol.
This thing is not Auric Damnation ready, but I’m not Auric Damnation ready. It kills specials in 1-2 shots, can get the first headshot off with Deadshot Vet, has a bigger ammo cap and faster reload than the revolver, and combo’d with a well-rolled Antax for carapace punching and horde clear it fills the job of ‘kill this one thing’ admirably well.
I can definitely see where the complaints are coming from, the ADS jitter and recoil is bad, but it’s not garbage, it’s just outcompeted for Auric like 90% of weapons.
Just like its larger cousin, fixing the ADS jitter would probably make it perfect.
I’m not saying you did it, I’m saying you quoted the wrong number for the wrong weapon.
Not really digging most of the new weapons, the Indagnatus cattle prod (shock maul) seems pretty good though, especially on martyr zealot.
The Karsolas heavy pick is OK but still a too bit slow and unwieldy for my liking, can’t say I care for the other 2.
Bolt pistol felt so bleh I didn’t even bother outside the grinder, same for double barrel shotty.
The Karsolas is the light pick fyi, it’s the quickest of the picks I think but with the least damage. It’s my fav because of the crowd control heavy attacks.
i spent 1M dockets recently to get one 370+ pickaxe that hadron could ruin and got not even one.
so i’ll camp the shop for good weapons, a tactic i’ve been much more successful with.
is there a consensus in the meantime which blessings are preferred for the new weapons?
i don’t say meta because they seem to be better balanced.
what shock maul do you like better, indi or agni?
what blessings combo?
perhaps skullcrusher + hammerblow like the old crusher, but that one has a single damage blessing.
falter to stagger them + skullcrusher for damage to staggered?
thrust? that’s up to +60%, but the maul swings pretty fast, so it could do more damage by just swinging.
what about high voltage or entropic?
pickaxes: what about classics vs new, like headtaker / slaughterer vs torment or confident strike vs slow and steady?
super shotgun: seems to get most use on vet with weapons specialist + always prepared so it reloads after swapping weapons, which mitigates its slow reload. found some builds here:
anyway, i don’t see myself crafting much before i can use the blessings i actually want, even with the new weapons.
I like Thrust combined with Slow and Steady so I can just go crazy with the heavy wide swings on the Karsolas
I feel that the double barrel shotty is totally eclipsed by the older Kantrael Shotgun.
ADs’ing on the Kant narrows the spread (illogical I know) and it can do okay at range. Scattershot is a great blessing combined with man-stopper or flechette, or you can go fire frenzy + deathspitter. The special fire shot is amazing for proc’ing scattershot.
Yes, the double barrel does more damage, but the DPS when considering reload is worse and the damage falloff makes it almost useless at even medium ranges.
Like you… I tested agni cause I have no indignatus. Blessings? What i could get. I had only 2 millions et 30k plasteel, so could only play with only one gun (when I mean playing, I mean testing every blessings).
All, except bolt pistol, I could use was what I could obtain after 2 consecrating.
When I look the blessing pool, these blessings need to be tested cause they are new: high voltage, stunned expression and opportunist.
Tested opportunist / thrust and I must say that I love (but a total random craft with 2 T4 blessings - pure luck)
slaughterer / headtaker are on same area, one if useful in horde clearing, while the other can work against any threat.
Confident stike.. even with the light pick axe, I was not convinced. Torment tried, but it means using a lot the special action that is not really good.
Slow and steady seem something interesting, especially for a melee ogryn (unfortunately, I cannot test actually).
But, tbh, I would like to test thrust + headtaker or wrath + headtaker.
Must say that I think the first could be better than the second, as pick axes seem to cleave well.
Both barrels is also great for this on a zealot. Not sure for a veteran.
I am a little confused at what can be good the Assault shotgun… except for a zealot.
totally personal opinion… based on what could be fun and not what is meta.
But all new melee weapon seem pretty interesting. All ranged weapons seem.. not great…
The light one is the only pickaxe I like because its anti-horde attack chain consists exclusively of heavy attacks.
Almost all ogres talents related to toughness regen or defense rely on heavy attacks, and how often they are used determines his durability. The other two pickaxes just too slow and have light and push attacks between heavies in their cc combos and with them I don’t have enough toughness for my playstyle. Being able to facetank bunch of ragers without getting damage is invaluable.
And light pickaxe still able two-shot any elite. Small difference compared to heavier options
