New Weapon Feedback and Older Weapon Balance Feedback

First off I want to say that the inclusion of new and unique blessings to the new weapons is a fantastic idea and enriches their gameplay more than many older weapons. I’m really hoping that this trend continues and new unique blessings are added for each weapon type with the itemization update.

Weapon Balance Feedback:

The Indignatus shock maul feels very slightly underpowered compared to the Agni variant but that can be fixed with minimal tweaking. Both weapons have very bad boss damage which severely limits ranged weapon choices unless you are completely relying on teammates for boss kills, which I don’t like. I don’t think the weapon needs to excel at killing bosses by any means but as it stands it’s pretty tedious trying to deal with a boss while using one.

The bolt pistol is a blast to use but either needs more power behind it or (preferably) the ADS needs to be improved. It takes too long for the weapon to become accurate again after shooting for it to be effective at a decent range and is especially frustrating considering it has headshot boosting blessings. I’m fine with the hip fire recoil except that if you manually compensate for it the reticle ends up resetting into the floor which feels disorienting and awkward.

The new shotgun is also very fun to play with and feels appropriately strong, but the ranged fall off is very slightly too harsh in my opinion.

I haven’t played with the pickaxes enough to give solid feedback on them quite yet.

Older Weapon Balance Feedback:

The shredder auto pistol is in dire straights. Atrocious damage and ammo economy. Desperately needs a significant damage buff to even be usable.

The Obscurous Force Sword lacks a purpose and has a horrendous light attack chain. Give it some sort of advantage over the other force sword variants or it will never have a place in any loadout.

The dueling swords, apart from the stellar mark 4, are also in a bad spot. Their damage is terrible in comparison and they don’t really clear hordes much better than the mk 4 light attacks do while also lacking solid single target damage.

The Power Maul feels a bit better but is still slightly too weak to really shine

The Bolter is truly awful. For a weapon that takes so long to ready and reload the damage is highly underwhelming and shooting the gun is a frustrating experience.

There are other weapons that need attention that I’m sure some commenters will mention

Thunder Hammer is not doing its job and hasn’t since enemies got their health bumped up. It doesn’t kill enough to be usable on higher difficulties and the self-stun is a problem.

Flamer needs a buff. Otherwise it’s basically useless. At least the Purgatus has infinite ammo and can be combo’d with the brain burst upgrades to melt things.

I’ve brought it a few times on Zealot as basically a quick tool for maniac specials and dreg ragers. It still has crazy good stagger power and solid maniac damage, I’ve found it pretty good for that purpose. Wouldn’t complain about a buff but in the context of Zealot gameplay I think it’s a lot more usable than people make out.

I also dislike how much Mk IV overshadows the others but to my mind that is a lot more to do with the Mk IV being really stupid overpowered these days. Exceptional mobility and single target damage. Really really stupid crusher kill speed. Synergises with Psyker right tree to gross levels.

Main thing I’d like for the Mk V is for the old special → light overhead combo to feel useful again.

I generally agree with a lot of this, but I’m curious about why you think the Indignatus maul is worse than the Agni. Admittedly I haven’t used the Agni as much, but the Indignatus has been an absolute workhorse for me and is probably my favorite non-Ogryn melee weapon right now.
