Weapon balance really needs a cohesive re-tuning

I have a lot of issues with the weapon balance in this game.

For example, a lot of weapons seem to fall off in usefulness as you unlock the hands-down better weapons. One such example would be the revolver. The bolter outclasses it in almost every way, other than being a bit more clunky to reload/swap and not making you as nimble. The revolver COULD have a niche if you made its ammo reserve better than the bolter.

There are lots of cases like this where it’s like “why use X weapon when i have Y which seems better in most ways”

Off the top of my head, here’s some egregious examples.

  • Power sword is way too good at doing EVERYTHING. Has a powerful charge up that lasts several attacks, and its moveset allows you to destroy hordes as well as single priority targets. Its moveset probably needs to be adjusted so that heavy attacks are an X or overhead strike instead of the ultimate horizontal cleave. At least then it has one weakness. Right now it’s like the most braindead pick because it literally does everything well.
  • Thunder hammer is laughably bad. Regular attacks don’t do a lot of damage for how sluggish they are, and the charged attack stops at the first enemy hit. Heavy attacks also feel pretty anemic. Regular attacks need to be stronger, and the power up attack should unleash an AOE damaging knockdown effect on the enemy it hits, so you can have other nearby enemies actually take a bit of damage and CC too. Maybe then it might be a worthy pick.
  • The Kantrael XII lasgun feels like the best of the semi-auto lasguns. It has an insane ammo reserve, it’s got massive magazines, it does great damage. You could reduce its ammo reserve by like 150 and it would still be a solid pick.
  • A lot of autoguns are just trash at lower levels since their bad recoil and low damage make them unusable.
  • Trauma force staff feels a lot less peril-efficient than its counterparts

I’m probably missing a lot more but i really hope they’ll do a weapon balance pass soon.
