So how do we feel about the new weapons?

You share my thoughts exactly! We know that in lore, those that wield bolters (boltgun, bolt pistol) have a serious gigachad strength, and inate skill to use one (beyond that of a skill tree buff). Anyone in-game that plays this just has to have the knack for these guns tbh, I do so well with both of them, I hadn’t used the boltgun as much on my Vet yet it has been my Zealots Elite and Monster crusher between my hacking away at everything. Bolt Pistol for my Vet and Zealot have been quite satisfying even with my aim tricks and on whim mixed combat, just knowing how to use it makes it amazing lol!
So on Pskyer I also have had fun with Bolt Pistol, I just have trouble acing Psyker at levels higher than Heresy. Just my issue with my ability under that archetype

this is sad boltie needs a little bit of a buff imagine NEEDING bleed4 flak 4 for a gun to function as it should

The problem @psyk with the bolter spec of perks and blessings is that its bricked.
Best blessings: Puncture
paired with any of these: Surgical, Lethal Proximity, or Deadly Accurate do amazing
compared to where these blessings have lackluster results: Execution, Run N Gun, Gloryhunter.
Perks I have usually had to leave alone unless I had good blessings to mess with the perks to choose Flak/Maniac, Carapace, sometimes would get one with Infested and keep that as currently this Bolt Pistol just a tad less damage on infested (even though i blew them up well) yet the weakest breakpoint is Carapace so it sure does help it so it cracks open Elites armor

Some of the better ones I landed were around 375 base value, stats great and some perks and blessings were manageable to change

crafting update will fix it

Hammerblow will allow you to pretty much knock down all human sized enemies. Without it, you can still stagger large groups due to the quick horizontal heavies (which can be easily spammed). The special stuns non-specials for a decent amount of time and it’s not too hard to make space to spam it safely unless you’re fighting a rager pack.

Anyone got a ( ideally non-sarcastic  ) suggestion on what to do with this, please?
Lightly crafted pistol on a vet. If it’s just junked, I’ll scrap it… but it’s the first orange one I have on the vet so thought I’d run it out if it’s usable. (T5 High level utility required). Any specific build nodes to include?

On Vet I’m not sure, as I’ve only ever played with it on Zealot. Flak and Maniac I’m sure are still your best to go for on perks. Idk if an ADS build on Vet is good to go for or if Deadly Accurate adds anything to it, but if it is replace ranged critical hit damage with flak and Execution with Surgical.

If you want a hipfire build I would just change both blessings to run n gun and puncture.

As I said I haven’t really played around with it on Vet, so I don’t know how much actual value you get out of Deadly Accurate. If it’s not work it, probably want to run Puncture instead if you get a different BP in the future

Precision Strikes obv is always good. Everything else is Dealers choice. I’ve heard good things about Deadshot but I can’t confirm. +damage to elites and +damage to Ogryns and Monstrosities are never bad to go on. If you find you’re struggling to hit BPs without puncture Focus Target would probably be helpful.

If you do go Weapon Specialist route you could run puncture instead of surgical and hope that Reciprocity and the crit chance from melee kills is enough to get you reliable crits.

There’s a good amount of stuff you can do with the Bolt Pistol even if it isn’t great. However I won’t run anything but hipfire builds on them because the recoil jank almost makes me feel nauseous for some reason. I was really hoping when they said they were adding a bolt pistol they would’ve had that issue fixed.

Deadshot seems to (mostly) alleviate the recoil jank and coupled with Deadly Accurate can guarantee your crits, which are enough to hit a lot of breakpoints on weakspot hits. I might swap out Surgical for Puncture or Lethal Proximity though if I get a good one.

It’s got a nice 1.6 crit multiplier so Deadshot seems useful.

But holy crap that hip-fire jank and jerky aim is going to give somebody a fit.
I’ve never had any issues with motion sickness or photo-sensitivity, but someone at FS is determined to put that to the test and make me eat those words.

I can’t say I’m a fan of the bolt pistol in it’s current state, even just throwing more ammo at it and a larger mag would go a long way. It seems to suffer the same-ish issues as shotguns.

Me.

Here’s something to consider on both the new guns - run 'n gun. Its by far the most fun I’ve had with either, and solves a lot of their disappointing jank. Its like 50% of an annointed boost, with a 30% or whatever spread reduction and further hipfire boost. Now I need to somehow find a bolt pistol with this, T4 puncture and decent perks…

On the shotgun, it lets you make good on its high mobility and actually do something different besides suck compared to Kantrael shotgun. I was stacking enough power boosts on Zealot to kill Dreg Ragers with a single barrel.

Whoa! Am I sleepy or is the run’n’gun spread redux penalty while running after the global bonus gone now? I don’t see it in the notes or the code or in-game. It’s always 30% spread reduction now, but damage boost is only while sprinting still.

Old code vs new code.

This is on the base, so dmg gets changed downstream (new value of 12%, and dummy entries for other tiers), but note the missing penalty!

P.S. LOL now I don’t have to sacrifice my good one to Mama Hadron. Still no run’n’gun, she keeps giving me T4s on low bases.

Edit:
P.P.S after being under 20k gold, then backj up to 1.5M after sellign all of Emprah’s grifts, finally got it in the most ironic way:

Lucky you!

I bought 10 random grey Ironhelms and consecrated to blue; she gave me Level 3 Deathspitter 6 out of 10 times.

There’s no way that’s an equally distributed random blessing!

Not buying it, sorry. The only thing I’ve found maces useful for is vertical heavy attack that can stun ragers and maulers with the weakspot stagger blessing, other than that it’s pretty pointless and mediocre.

Personally I like all of the weapons because none of them are hot garbage. The bolt pistol needs a hotfix but is usable, Everyone loves the picks, The shock maul is good, and the new shotgun is fun.

I’m actually in love with the new shotgun on vet. It’s complete ass on the other classes though.

What are you running for build and blessings with it?

If you’re asking about the shotgun, for Vet you would need weapon specialist (obvious pick, even with one stack it rounds up to minium one shot reloaded into the mag) and crit-related blessings (Scattershot and manstopper, if you have it).

For Zealot either crit-related blessings again with Blazing Piety build or just Both Barrels to quickly one-shot Muties and reload.

It’s not great overall, but not terrible either. I wish the damage falloff wasn’t that high tho.
