So four Zones with several missions each

What did we have in the beta? Was that 1 Zone or Multiple? It didn’t feel like we were on the same map structurally but aesthetically I couldn’t say.

I was really hoping for greater aesthetic variety but it seems unlikely now.

The first map showed in the Milk and Cookies video initially relieved me about visual variety in map design however… given the context of the intro cinematic(approaching the desert city from space) I am worried that what we saw there was just a standalone introductory mission before we descend into the underground hive.

I read it as 4 biomes.

Outer Hive
Underhive.
Underhive Depths?
Nurgle’s Bowels?

Coming from VT2, we knew every one of us that Darktide was going to lack visual variety on some level. 40k is a much drabber setting in general. From the very first trailer all my friends said the same thing. “I hope it doesn’t look too samey.”

They still felt that way after Beta 2, but are onboard.

I’m holding out hope that one Zone is actually the Upper Hives. It would be rad going from the stinking, corroded metal Under Hive to the marble, velvet and gold-inlaid Upper Hive. Besides, most fallen hives usually have someone at the very top to blame. It’d be 100% on brand not just for 40k but for the Inquisition in particular.

Anyways, we can hope for more skies than just one mission. But when they set the game in a Hive City, we knew we weren’t going to get many.

Up or down, I don’t honestly care which. Just as long as the environments “go somewhere” beyond what we saw in Beta 2.

dev said in an interview that we were also going to see the upperhive, so exterior view from balcony and noble establishment should be a thing. But yeah we probably won’t stride in a snowy forest on this one^^
