As per title, I haven’t seen a single 21% curio since Scum was released and probably a while before that. I even rarely see 20% and I have gotten all Scum penances except for 1 which I will have in a day or so.
Just stupid (if they do still exist).
Why not just scale the % on offer based on the XP of the player? If someone is XP level 30 then they should be offered only the highest available % on available curios.
Who is going to buy a 19% if they already own 20%? It’s such a waste of time.
I used to see 21% quite regularly as Ogryn.
Also, (off topic) but the cosmetics rotation today still doesn’t update for DLC classes, nor does it offer anything exciting. Very boring rotation. I don’t know why they sell trinkets. Trinkets should be exclusively for rewards for penances and achievements IMO.
I’d love it if Melk’s wasn’t all RNG bullsht. Don’t feel bad… On Arby it took me like over 100k bucks just to get one 17% Toughness. It’s super-duper nonsense & it would be nice if the system is overhauled to something else, that would be nice. Sometimes there is some goodies in the shop rotation for Curios, but even that is rare as well.
Even if Melk was the only way to get the absolute best stuff (if he didn’t offer anything other than the best tier) then it would at least give people a reason to use melk bucks.
on the one hand “numbers go up” is such a simple psychology, few can remain affected from.
on the other once a dlc char is fully kitted out, everything else except the character selection-, lobby loading screen and the match itself becomes useless, avoidable fluff thats not adding anything to the game.
as if all this “retaining” hamster wheel energy should have been put into different sectors and personnel of development such as maps, weapons, enemy and a.i
took me 280k melk coins to get my 21/17% collection full for scum.
is it making me play more in order to refill the coffer and begin again next char?
nope, it’s still the gameplay that makes me return every time, so why so deadlocked on the spinning wheel?
They still exist. I’ve been buying them up along with +3 stam curios.
I do think they’re a bug though.
80% of 25%hp (the cap in the code) is 20%, not 21%.
80% of 20%T is 16%, not 17%.
Different item levels needed to make +3 stam work in psykh vs missions.
Something’s buggy and I think the bug is that these rare bonuses are available to us at all. However, removing them now would cause riots and at least players have something rare to chase.
sure they do, i picked up one yesterday and one the day before. but then i have 7 characters (2 zealots) and tend to check the shop every hour for all of them (from the menu, via modular menu buttons), although i don’t need anything, so there’s a higher chance of finding something rare.
edit: as for scum, i posted how tedious getting top rated curios is when the class came out, especially since melk didn’t offer me anything to spend my 500k coins in his lousy shop, while my arby got 4 (mostly substandard) curios every day there.
I have managed to obtain a couple of 21% HP and 17% on my Scum, but we are talking 1-3 items, and I had to gamble for it. I think I only have one 17% T Curio. Those Curios are one of the last remnants of the unhinged itemisation system we had suffer before. I really hope this is the last Fatshark game to abuse those silly psycho-tricks to “engage” players. Just focus on making good games.
Logged on just to have a look on Hive Scum:
+3 Stamina: 7
17% Toughness: 4
21% Health: 3
All above 410 item value (any stamina +3 with item value of 400 is only a +2 in reality)
Other classes have 5+ of all of these at least, think Psy had 15+ Sta +3 at one point
i searched for “curio” on the 4 pages of patch notes for u&u and couldn’t find anything. but iirc there was a mention somewhere that curios would be reworked at a later date. which is of course a positive thing, if fatshark time didn’t flow much slower than anywhere else on earth.
make it possible to empower curios just like weapons as a quick fix.

edit: yep it no longer works, and anyway it’s wtfd anyway that a game needs an external tool just to let players get their in-game items.
So, there’s a few things about that. Putting the RNG garbage aside… Weekly objectives are a continuous playerbase retention tool, just like Havoc’s derank & reset each few months’ system… For established players who’ve already unlocked every curio & weapon over a long period of time on other classes, they still have to participate in the rat race of RNG, which is total sht. To me, this doesn’t feel rewarding anymore & more of a slog fest. Why not just let us bypass certain objectives or even goals then let inexperienced players maybe figure all that out & go through those hoops instead. Like, if they restructured how it works like with the weapon customization that would be amazing. They at least moved away from the RNG with this. Maybe Fatshark could make curios function differently or maybe even use the same system as weapons to level up curios instead & get rid of Melk bucks all together, so this way it’s a win-win & at least more engaging. You’re still spending your hard-earned currencies from completing matches, but it’s just less RNG is all in a slightly different configuration. I hate standing there for literally an hour or more just gambling at random chance. The store feels obsolete to me knowing the functionality of weapon crafting & how there’s other avenues they could explore that’s at least less chance based.
I’ve always suggested melk should be a recolour shop for your gear. So can respray your cosmetics for melk bucks. Something like that would be a cool use of melk imo. Good reason to grind the coins
Ahh! Interesting. So, take the curios aspect away from Melk’s & maybe incorporate curios alongside the weapons system instead, then just use Melk bucks for other things like a partial cosmetics customization store more so. Which is pretty fascinating, I don’t see anything wrong with that. I mean, we do have a Barbershop already for the characters, so I don’t see why not. I could see that working.
I’ve said it once or thrice that it would be cool if we could buy certain cosmetics with the Melkbux. Even if it was random one would have use of the Melkbucks then.
nice idea, it’s just that fatshark already sells recolors for aquilas, not melk bucks.
i use to make my contracts every monday and fulfill them when possible. after completing one character i burn 2500 coins by buying 10 random curios for my newest char (the scum, now), so i stay under the 500k cap. of these 10, usually 1 is a 17t / 21h / 3s, i keep it and sell the rest.
his weapons rarely have a perfect distribution so it’s easier to save whatever “perfect” item appears at the store and empower it.
Good point lol… I forgot about that slimy tactic. But it would be nice to recolor everything not just clothing, but weapons too & maybe even have it to where you can also customize parts on your weapons, like different magazines styles or different scopes or something like that. Only one can dream, I doubt this will ever happen, though. I know there’s mods for that stuff, but it would be nice for everybody to see them & not just yourself. I’d totally do it with Melk bucks for sure. There’s some cosmetics I have that I wish they were just in a different colour/pattern that they don’t recolor/reskin in the shop, sadly. That’s the only thing.
