Firstly, I just want to say it’s great to have something like Smite added to the game. It’s another nice representation of something from the lore.
However, I really find it underwhelming to use. I don’t mean from a damage/statistical perspective, but rather as an experience.
Smite is something that should be utterly deadly, yet I just feel like I’m discarding static shocks into enemies. It sounds like something anyone worshipping Slaanesh would enjoy the sensation of.
I understand that it could be distracting for the team if there was a constant thunder boom of energy, but I wish, for my speakers at least, it actually sounded like I was channeling warp lightning
One way I could see it being elegant, is that if it were to deal more damage, the fewer targets are currently being focused. So that if you are smiting just one, it fries much faster. VS more targets being more like smite as it functions now, damage wise.
That way, as your allies kill off your smitten targets, the remaining begins popping like balloons, weakest first.
What if smite added stacks of brittleness, the longer a target was stuck being electrocuted. Up to 16 stacks of 2.5% brittleness and 1 stack takes X amount of time or X amount of peril to be added.
If crowd control brittleness is too strong, maybe make enfeeble stack up to, idk, 5 times adding a stack each 0.7sec or 12% peril generated.
We have enfeeble as a talent which makes anyone deal 10% more damage to enemies stuck in smite but just a flat 10% is really bad and not worth the talent point. Increasing brittleness would fix both problems of smite not doing enough damage and not providing enough of an ensentive for teammates to attack enemies stuck in smite.
You’d still be stuck sitting there, watching half a room of zombies having a dance party but at least now you’d know that they get weaker and weaker the longer they dance.
