Smash TV

Holy Christmas I’ve just had an epiphany.

I’ve been very interested in a survival mode (previous now-locked thread Arena survival mode )

And after some other folk have made similar suggestions, I thought that a really great format for it would be that of Super Smash TV (one of the greatest SNES games).

It would still be survival but you’d move into a new arena after completing the last. The arenas could be entirely modular and have loads of different risks and traps (flame throwers, trap doors, etc).

Basically just imagine Super Smash TV was first person view in Darktide.

Every now and then a bonus arena with a fun minigame to earn as many materials or dockets as possible before moving on to the next arena.

Goodness me this thought has me very excited.

Edit: another mode could be like the Maze Runner, where the central area is the safe zone with health and ammo, then you have to get through each modular procedural maze zone and hit the buzzer and return before the timer runs out.

That’s a connection I haven’t thought of before but it sounds pretty cool actually. It made me think of orcs must die even, which if you think about it would totally work with the Darktide gameplay systems. That said maybe this is a little bit too arcadey

If it’s just dressed up as psychanium training exercise then it can make plenty of sense within the world.

The retention for it could be insane. I imagine it would be very addictive.

Especially if there’s a psychanium scoreboard.
