So I had a go at that Kill Knight game which is pretty cool and definitely scratches my Smash TV itch…but it got me thinking how an Arena survival game mode would actually be really fun in DT and potentially quite easy to implement.
It could simply be the meat grinder arena as it doesn’t need to be fancy. No health packs or stims, no medicae, and perhaps an ammo vendor or drop of sorts? Ever increasing threat/volume of enemies and you have to survive as long as possible. Pure survival.
Dead teamates could get rescued but no health packs and loads of enemies means it would certainly be a challenge.
It could be explained in game as a meatgrinder training simulator if y’all lore/realism purists need some narrative.
I liked Grim Dawn’s crucible mode which are basically waves: The Crucible - Official Grim Dawn Wiki That might work so you can top up ammo after each round.
Or you could just have the L4D2 survival mode equivalent, though limited ammo would change the mode up considerably.
I think the first would be better, so guns aren’t disfavoured.
Hmmm yeah that’s a good point. I guess there would need to be an imaginative way to handle that situation. Perhaps a semi-regular pulse that temporarily blocks psychic abilities for a couple seconds.
Rather then a round arena which would be viable for only melee builds, i’d like a endless defense mission with a cone shaped map.
At first the enemies only come from the front but the longer you survive the more spawn points open, eventually ending up with the team completely overrun from all sides (except back because thats what you’re defending)
Maybe it could be a simple oversized maze and maybe the shape of the maze could be slightly different (procedural) each play! Damn that might be damn fun pickups randomly placed about too?
If they make it look like the shining then even better lol
