We got all those subclasses in the talent rework. They were never said to be free.
Can you really call slight changes in talents a new subclass?
Unchained is entirely different from Battle Wizard and both are incredibly different from Pyromancer and Necromancer. Zealot doing a dash vs stealth vs holding a book with most of the other talents being similar isn’t exactly a “whole new subclass”, we got build variety, sure, but changing your ult and your grenade isn’t exactly unique.
As for them being free, you’re right:
You’d just think that after 2.5 years of no new classes, the first one would be free. But then again we still can’t earn aquilas, play solo, or buy the cosmetics we want when we want to buy them. So it’s not like Fatshark cares about anything other than our wallets
Yes the lanes in the tree are worth a “class” in VT2, as far as I’m concerned. And I greatly prefer the system to VT2’s. I know other people don’t agree, but it’s clear that they took the bits and pieces meant to make other classes and turned them into the trees.
We were never going to get Arbites and the like once a quarter, and it certainly was never going to be free.
And look at how many free maps they got in comparision to darktide since
It’s at least 5
Because I’m sure there will be a lot of mechanics and pathfinding that is exclusive to the player dog, all of which would need to work in every part of every map under all circumstances (assuming doggo is always by our side).
Not on a year per year count. No shot did VT2 have 5 free maps within the first 2 1/2 years. Free maps didn’t even start rolling out with any regularity until like 2022 or 2023. 4 years after the fact.
The systems are different, and I don’t think one is better than the other.
On one hand we have 5 characters, each with 3 (paid 4th) distinctly unique subclasses/careers, each with their own active and passive ability/abilities and 6 rows of 3 Talents to pick from, but many are not even worth taking (especially the generic talents in the lv 5 and 15 rows). So each Career ends up with one or two viable talent builds that change how the career is played or approached (for example, Shade can delete monsters or patrols in one ability use bot not both, changing how you approach the mission depending on your “role”, but Unchained really only has one viable talent build and only changes which weapon and staff she’ll bring). This creates a situation where even without the paid dlc careers, you have 15 minimum/30 maximum (based on two viable builds per career) “builds” you can play.
On the other hand you have 4 classes, each with a unique talent tree that has three rows of exclusive build defining talents, forcing you to adjust the connecting talents to pick the exclusive talents. This creates more diversity and customization within the tree itself, but really only creates 3 maybe 4 (heavy emphasis on maybe) unique playstyles per class. Personally, I think picking between Book vs Charge vs Stealth as an active ability is far less unique than entirely new passives and talents to go with each active ability, but the talent tree itself lends for more of your individual personality to show through even if it’s not “meta”. This gives you 4 classes, each having 3-4 different active abilities and grenade and bonus that you can pick from to slightly adjust how you play that class.
On paper, the 2nd option has more variety, in practice I found Stealth Zealot to feel almost identical to Charge Zealot, where Shade feels nothing like Handmaiden.
I think dog won’t be always close, but i will wait and see gameplay trailer.
It is interesting that they have chosen to call it the “Arbites class” rather than character, archetype or whatever, especially considering they knew about their previous statement of "one new class every quarter.
There’s been confusion about classes and archetypes since before launch. I think this is just a continuation of that. They’ll probably just keep using them interchangeably (it’s archetype in the code).
Fatshark Logic:
It’s been 2.5 years, which is a quarter of 10 years, and we never said what “one new class every quarter” was a quarter of…
this, compared to the “unecessary” bills i had to do, like repairs around the house, car etc…
12€ pffft, if i stop at mcdonalds its easily 4x if everyone at home wants their guilty pleasure.
mcfarlane figures usually around 20-40€ a pop and im speaking army building here.
“last shirt aint got no pockets” and i’m making sure i’m enjoying my spoils for lifetime sold until i kick the bucket ![]()
Soooooo
An entire class costs less than one premium cosmetic set.
Lmao
I don’t think we’re getting any new playable content with the next update
It’s a narrative and difficulty progression overhaul.
So no new guns
No new maps
I think the new playable content we’re getting is the dlc
I’m sure the weapon they promised veteran will come eventually
I’m just here to point out that the whole concept of Arbites is a rip-off of Judge Dredd, and FS announces the DLC mere days after GW sued hundreds of people for… copyright infingement.
At this point they are mocking us.
Source:
funnily enough, that awful fomo store doesn’t let me buy anything that is not on rotation, no matter how many aquilas i get.
so we are going to have to level this character up? ugh
Vt2 was good in this regard since the new careers would be max level and if you saved up your red dust you can make red weapons immediately for them
Hmmmmm
Yes a entirely new class with all that entails
Several new weapons with the payed dlc
2 system overhauls apart of the update
And you think there’s a chance for more weapons on top of that/map
Are you aware of what company we’re talking about here
