Skulls reveal leaked and it's paid DLC: June 23rd

Nope never was! They said since before launch that classes will likely cost.

Our Faustian gamer bargain keeps getting worse. I guess we should pray it does not get altered further.

You can add free to play games to a wishlist though. I still don’t see a price tag, although I think there’s likely one.
Considering the premium shop, they might release the class for cheap like in VT, and have premium purchases instead of a premium edition

I don’t play VT2, but from what I know, they didn’t engage in shenanigans. Everything was directly priced, there was no FOMO, and things didn’t vanish from the store with no indication of when they’d be back.

The store is so abominably garbage because it’s trying to squeeze out money for development: fine.

If that’s the case, this class should’ve been free, like all other content updates.

If the store was less garbage, I would’ve been fine paying for this class. As it stands…nope. Now, if they announce with Skulls proper that they’re transitioning to a non-FOMO store, that Aquilas are getting put forth as earnable currency for good, and that prices are getting reduced…sure I’ll buy in. Until then, my wallet stays shut.

Ok dog / shield…

They have listened…

I am curious to see if the dog is something like a blitz or if it is linked to the class.

Hmm, but can you add free DLC to wishlist? Anyway, i doubt it’s free dlc.

Yeah, but like I said, new maps, weapons and modes for Darktide have all been free up to this point. There were also fewer earnable cosmetics in VT even if the shop wasn’t FOMO designed. Overall this is still an improvement for the kinds of players that never spent money on either game.

Can’t let the awfulness of the shop color the objective improvement of content for “Free” players.

Well i hope the other classes are getting at least a new weapon or something.

I’ll buy, it’s worth paying for content like this :+1:

Unless it will be something lame and worthless, with barely any arsenal :smiling_face_with_tear:

FOMO and wale-hunting is scummy.

But I’m wondering DLC purchases might send the signal that gamers are willing to exchange money for non-cosmetic content. (Be told: It’s how games worked back in the 20th century.)

EDIT:

OT1H, I’ve never been a fan of “pets” in any game.
OTOH, I just listened to the first few seconds of the trailer, and instantly thought, “Bargain basement Stallone.” Which is spot-on!

Go look at the announcement.

Players will be able to purchase the Arbites Class on all platforms on June 23, 2025 for the price of $11.99 / €11.99.

Honestly, that’s cheaper than I expected.

I’m waiting for the people that defended the MTX shop saying it would provide fatshark money to give free content for everyone.
They’ll come up with thousands of different reasons to defend this.

It’s sad to think how many people will buy this.

You mean for both cosmetic and non-cosmetic content. The inevitable path this was all going. Paid game, macrotransaction FOMO shop, and paid DLC. The holy trinity for shareholders.

So sad.

From before launch:

Just grow some self-control and don’t buy digital pants, people.

It’s a small thing but worth noting that VT and VT2 both had 5 characters on launch, with VT2 then having 3 classes per character.

Honestly, I may delay the purchase, because of Dune coming same month.

Also, I am not sure to like the dog… I wait to have, at least, an idea of what will be this class.

And I wait for the new weapons…

You’re such a good consumer. Here, have a premium FOMO shop as a reward.

I bought Darktide steam key for £15. Certainly got value from it for sure.

I’ve never bought cosmetics. So another £11 isn’t a big deal. Honesty I thought they were going to go full greed £20 or something.

People will buy it - Just by fact so content starved.

Try out the new class for something different, something new, something fun. Will people stick to the class? Well that depends on how it stacks up compared to other classes. Mobility and Anti-armour is really favoured in this game.

Or afterwards people will go back to Zealot DS or Ogryn bully 3b anyway.

By having an elite sniping dog - In terms of balance what will weaken the user itself. How does it scale when in Auric you have one elite per 3 secs. Interesting questions and answers soon!

I’ll just say it - If nobody bought cosmetics Devs would be forced to invest into the content itself to sell and make money based on it’s own merit as a game.
