I agree that the shield needs changing. Nevertheless, you are comparing apples with oranges. The psyker bubble is an ability, not a blitz.
Haven’t hit level 30 due to the demoralizing slog of level grinding, but none of their unique melees feel that fun to use. The Arc Maul does poor damage, the unique power sword has an awkward moveset, and the dualies don’t have the sauce that made Kerillian’s sword and dagger good, on top of what feels like awkwardly low damage.
No access to the tactical axe means they just don’t have any melees I like. Their selection feels oddly limited. You could at least give me access to the Omnissian Axes that Pasqal gets in Rogue Trader.
In my opinion it does a good bit more than just match, the servo skull can play the game for you even more than arbites cyber mastiff does, it doesn’t protect against c spawn grabs and hounds as much, but it can just about kill any special/elite below a crusher in mere seconds just from tagging them, it also completes data minigames, can perform ranged revives, has a source of ammo regen, and has tons of talents regarding toughness regen
yes, gold toughness does desperately need some nerfs, the built in invincibility every 2 minutes could also hit a nerf in my eyes, boss 1 shot builds it kinda depends, thats the 1 class that kinda gets an exemption from destroying bosses since it should require a bit of investment, but the last time i tried out a martyrdom zealot build i was able to 1 shot bosses without even stacking up the martyrdom keystone, so even it could probably hit a good nerf in some ways
there just needs to be nerfs across the board to a whole bunch of stuff honestly ![]()
the weapons not having marks is heavily limiting enjoyment of the weapons for me. it’s a missed opportunity not making a second mark with a different moveset. i just don’t like the movesets, they have annoying aspects. i see this complaint about the arc maul and sword a lot, a second mark could’ve solved it entirely
I didn’t either at first but I have started to warm to them.
I did it i think, at least half health, but it felt random.
Yeah, it should or arcs of lightning should. At this point to me it is mostly cc tool and toughness regen. It’s not bad if used at 3 stacks, not only it does damage and stun, it debuffs significantly from talents below, so when enemies hit with 3 charges they don’t survive, but hitting with 3 charges is more rare than with one or two, psyker can vent way more and for bigger results.
Probably because switch attacks mid combat are both heavy attacks which players can hold off, but i maybe they should speed up animation.
I was hoping for omnissiah axe, but after googling turns out it can be only used by tech priests, not by Skitarii. Also every weapon has only one mark, power sword needs another and since they copy pasted from VT 2 again, could’ve add another, single transonic blade which would imitate elf sword, since current blade imitate dagger+sword and two swords simultaneosly
I was more worried it was gonna be the usual slash slash stab/heavy strike down and heavy sweep classic melee set ups or some variant there of, but was pleasantly surprised. I just wish the damage bonus from stowing power sword charges was less to encourage you to use it more, with like 0.5s faster regen in general.
just to be clear i dont mind complexity, the arc maul in particular just doesn’t really feel good to me with which attack chains into which, what follows a push into a heavy, what follows a push attack etc. i find myself block cancelling stuff which basically just means i hate the moveset. it’s a personal preference thing i’m sure but at the same time everyone has a personal preference.
like you know arbites shields or shotguns, relic swords, shock mauls? imagine you were limited to just the one you personally don’t like. making a few marks with different approaches on the moveset is a nobrainer. especially because stuff like melee arcing is literally locked behind this weapon
if they’re different weapons like arbites shotgun yeah, but mostly the weapon variants for melee are a terrible idea because one is just better (even without simple moveset preference). I really don’t like that system at all, so not using it just avoids that altogether. the only melee with variants I like are the picks because they actually do different things and numbers and frame data (and being very strong overall helps too). that’s 1 weapon family for like 40~ groups
and not liking combos and paying attention to which move comes after the reversed direction attack of the other is part of why the game is moving heavily towards being brainless and stupid and not fun to play on a lot of difficulties, but ok. I personally enjoy getting the hang of a weapon, and no I don’t really block cancel a lot. unless its scum using a crowbar which you’re sort of forced to do when its too dangerous to switch mode (that heavy 1 is like the only unaltered move capable to deal with elites outside rampage, while still featuring cleave with scum’s boost, aka ogryn shield syndrome).
disagree, i just get annoyed because that’s not a fun vector of complexity in a tide game for me. especially if it feels weird like the arc maul, it has some moves where your hand just teleports across the screen to make the moveset more complex. at that point it also kinda feels video gamey and kills the immersion for me. they gotta feel intuitive to use to me or i hate them. the arc maul literally has multiple attacks that end on a sweep-to-right but they arbitrarily chain into different heavies, for example. it’s not really a matter of paying attention, it’s a matter of having to memorize it against intuition
also i don’t really agree with what you’re saying about marks. you’re saying you have a personal preference and i have a personal preference. we agree on this. but aren’t marks the perfect way to solve this? let’s look at the reverse case, transonic blades. wouldn’t you enjoy the weapon more if they had a MORE complex moveset? one always ends up better mathematically sure but that’s more or less a seperate concept to me, one weapon is always the mathematical winner even between families
I like the class, it’s fun and all the weapons feel neat to use. I’m going to wait a week or two before I make a conscious decision if it’s op or not because all players are different and I want to see what the general casual playerbase thinks.
Another note Darktide had 56k players on Skiitari launch, so good or bad, Fatshark made some good money with the DLC.
It’d all be fine, except for one TINY thing – the medical servo-skull. Did the dev even test it? How am I supposed to line up a pixel-perfect click on a teammate mid-combat on Havoc 40, while also staying within the right distance for it to work? Same with hacking. It’s one of the best tools in Havoc, yet most of my deaths happen because I’m trying to save someone with it. The person who tested this in a vacuum and never bothered to try it in a real fight bravo. So bravo that I don’t have enough curses to do it justice.
Skitarii are quite enjoyable in the game. I especially liked the talent tree, although I don’t quite understand why they don’t have passive stat buffs like other classes. I thought they could have been used to show which augmentations we use and what they improve, like increased movement speed, for example. Skitarii weapons are very cool, although it’s sad that there are no radium weapons, and I understand why they didn’t add them. It still felt like a “Guardsman without a lasgun”. I was also disappointed that there are no axes available for Skitarii; I really wanted to use axes as a Skitarii. Skitarii clothing is also very cool, although it’s not unlocked through achievements as evenly as with other classes. Typically, by level 30, people have already unlocked new clothing and gradually improved their appearance. Skitarii jackets and helmets, however, unlock quite late. As a result, at level 30 on the hardest difficulty, a lot of people are still running around in the very basic gear, which kind of breaks the immersion. I was really looking forward to the Skitarii, and I was very pleased with them, as with all the other classes in the game. While some minor issues I mentioned, taken together, prevent me from rating them a 5 out of 5, I still rate them a 4 or 4+ out of 5. Thanks for the long-awaited class and the new, enjoyable gameplay.
most melee weapon models do not matter and it isn’t opinion, though. we have relic blades and pickaxes to point to as the two times it worked, unlike ranged options where they have much more room to play with (and I don’t agree on relic blades since the value in the other one is beyond boring light spam). even on arbites with the janky strong shields there’s one with a decent-cleaving strike down focus, which you should just run with arbites’ abundance of cleave to kill everything faster if we were being objective with the weapons and using them in game. it just feels fun to use the one with wide sweeps. there’s vets power swords where one gets a move that makes all of its drawbacks almost tolerable, and then its absent from the other one inexplicably. deimos destroys all force swords, even with how cool obscurus is now there’s no point to it existing. the heavy-heavy eviscerator is extremely boring but actually functions to kill things with the chain. the chainsword with actual kill potential more than makes up for the removal of some cleaving heavies. the chainaxe with fast latches is just way better than the janky heavy-oriented one. the slashing knife has a push stab that removes the short-range restriction of its attacks to actually make backstabbing a thing. dueling sword can juice the counter over the heavies with a better dodge, but you also have weaker lights making it round the corner to ‘a lot worse’. etc etc etc.
and they could definitely polish up some animations, since it feels like there’s some I haven’t seen before, but I’d rather keep the interesting combos and move-specialization of the melee weapons where you have to process the next thing and be punished for pulling the wrong move. it feels more like a melee combat game when that happens. but I’ll point out power sword has sunder so even if you just throw out the wrong move powered up it will still cleave tons and do a lot of single target damage with high charge, while arc maul has arc (but this is much less accessible when you kark up).
Everybody’s noticed that the posters who say the class is good, or who would like buffs, have numbers in their user names, right?
actually i won’t say it’s enjoyable in h40, as a h40 player i would describe it as terrible in h40 if u dont use claw(thats only usefuly thing on this class except for arc rifle)
It’s funny, I like robots, or people pretending to be robots. The Mechanicus are the only ones in the Imperium who I have any sympathy for. I got this nickname from my Stellaris playthrough, where I destroyed all organic life as the DX robots, and now I’m just using it. I’m not entirely objective, of course, but then again, so are everyone, but having a natural affinity for the Skitarii, I’m more likely to like them.
well it is opinion. i can list some stuff to prove it
-
ogryn knives i use mk4 and mk3 with different builds
-
clubs i use all marks with different builds for different strengths
-
pickaxes you mentioned
-
ogryn folding shovels i enjoy the brass one, the blue one has a moveset i don’t like but other people do
-
power swords i like the standard one but the one with the stab cookie cutter combo has fallen into fashion more for performance reasons, but i don’t enjoy the moveset on it much
-
relic blades you mentioned
-
shock mauls i only like the medieval looking one, the others seem just as strong but i just dont like the movesets
-
both arbites shields are strong but i use the one that shield bashes more 99% of the time because i find the moveset more satisfying
-
i like both the achlys and rashad combat axe but find the moveset on the antax annoying but i know it has uses
-
i don’t like the second chainsword
-
the two eviscerators are both fun and are basically totally different weapons while using the same concept, one is an exec sword the other is some sort of bret longsword idea
-
devils claw sword i only like the one where all the lightspam cleaves but i dont think it’s the meta one
-
chainaxes i like both but there are people who hate one or the other
-
dueling sword mk5 and mk4 are both fun, i don’t see the point of mk2 anymore and dont find it fun now
-
combat blades both are fun to me but many people like one over the other because they prefer push stab spam vs special attack combos
-
on heavy swords the ones that arent IX are mathematically directly better but i only like the IX because the moveset is satisfying
-
i like the ilsi sword over all others because it’s more fun to shred stuff with it than having the objectively better one that feels half as satisfying to me
if these weapons didn’t have marks and where it applies locked me into the one i dont like, they would all bring me less enjoyment.
the problem with applying objectivity to weapon choices is that not everyone actually does that, they need to perform to be fun but i pick what’s fun not what performs the best. i have two zealot chainaxe builds, one for the one mark, one for the other, just saying. maybe an arc maul mark could add more depth to skitarii builds this exact same way.
