What do you think of Skitarii?
the build i use is exactly the thing i wanted for my playstyle, a frontline arbitratoresque character with very high amounts of damage and cc, with the best ranged weapon in the game. just wish the blitzes were reworked a bit tho
its fun without being number porn, nice to see them able to sell a class on the appeal of the source material and not power creep. but I think the refractor shield grenade needs a total revamp, it already costs you the servo skull to use and doesn’t affect some of the things bubble shield does, could it not use capacitance charge instead of precious grenades everyone else has way better options for? even zealot grenades clown these things and they should never be used with knives existing.
lemme level the toaster to 30 and do some back to back maelstroms with my main, then ill tell you ![]()
I like the class. The class unique weapons are fun to use. Getting to use abilities a lot with how capacitance works is very cool. The tree is laid out pretty well, not too many tax nodes. Doesn’t seem too degenerate but it still feels safe to W key everything with certain loadouts.
What I don’t like: The ranged block blitz is not very good and I’m leaning that way on the ranged ult. Redline Capacitors seems really strong and overshadow the other keystones, though they’re not bad. Only the cleave and rending aura seems pickable at the moment. Servo skull solver should have a CD or something, getting to do all 4 scans with one Skitarii’s skull is too good.
I havent experienced it fully yet (only lvl 12 because work) but so far i am actually very surprised how enjoyable it is.
Biggest surprise is the aimbot ability, actually pretty comfortable to use. Being able to just turn it off at will and keep the remaining stacks feels really nice. its not actually snapping my mouse which is what i was afraid of it’d be. Nor is it the lame overwatch soldier aimbot, you actually have to aim at the targets.
Rifle ammo is going to take some getting used to though after having nigh infinite ammo with helbore.
And the arc gun while it looked extremely lame in the trailers, the arc does actually feel nice. It still doesnt have that thunderbolt oomph that i wish it had but its still nice.
Still havent gone with a servo skull so i’ll have to get back to ya on that one. non upgraded one is just alright so far, Its nice that i no longer have to do the minigames and can just send the servo skull to do that for me.
So, so far my impression is : pleasantly surprised
Is this going to keep me playing after i had my fill of the class? Hell no. Regardless how nice the class feels, we’re still all replaying the same exact maps and the exact same modifiers as for the past 2 years…
It actually kinda is number porn
5 charges chordclaw baby get those twins out of the arena in 30s
Yeah, so far Chordclaw is the big thing to eye for balancing. It is hella fun ripping off faces, though.
Yeah chord is a little P2W, but much more constrained than being globally overtuned. It ain’t all your toughness back and ghetto ogryn level damage resist with stun immune and damage coming out the ears…And capacitance limited when they fix the glitch that seems so obvious its almost like an early purchase lure like the busted beyond belief guns-only pickpocket…how did no one notice it, you can sprint charging this ult and that’s the only thing you need to do. Seems like a single play test would have noticed.
Galv rifle and plasma are the only suppression immune options for Skitarii (unless we count braced autogun). Definitely interesting and not useless to me.
? Im confused why this reply is directed at me? I never said anything about anything being useless, nor did i say anything about suppression…
Didnt say anything about plasma rifle and the only thing i said about the rifle is the small clip ammo
I’m in a similar position atm, while I don’t think Skittles will replace the Crusher + Autopistol + Nuncio build I’ve been maining since post-BBD, it’s a very close second rn and I’ve been very pleasantly surprised with how the class plays overall, but it’s still too early to say for definite.
There’s a couple of things others have mentioned that are worthy of a closer look by the devs (chordclaw’s skin-stealing aptitude immediately springs to mind lmao), but we’ve just got to see how it all goes ofc
TL;DR tho, Skittles is kinda Peak ngl
I really wasn’t enjoying it at l12 or so but definitely am now that I’ve unlocked almost all levels.
The tree certainly takes longer to unravel due to its layout (it’s no longer a tree!).
I think the weapon combo movesets are what threw me, especially the sword which I doubt I’ll use much as it felt like battling the combos instead of battling the enemies. I strongly dislike the special button being used to switch…it’s just too convoluted for this high pace game. Especially annoying as the transonic blades are my fav by a long shot.
I’ve stuck with the redline and electric part of the tree until I’ve done the penances then will move to the next so can only comment on that but yeah it’s actually very fun.
nah I’m just saying as a role for Skitarii, they get suppressed so trying to snipe with revolver and autogun is out. but the galvanic rifle is suppression immune and able to snipe, which only the plasma gun is able to do otherwise (in their arsenal). pretty ok niche.
its gonna completly replace my arbitrator in havoc 40 no doubt at all about that its just better than everything he does
It really starts to get going after level 20 in terms of talents, but kinda too early to tell. At least it doesn’t seem completely bonkers P2W, although grenade-based Blitzes need work, and the electric shockwave ability need some fixing because minor elevation differences completely screw it up.
I hope they can reset the shooting talent on the right, the resilience recovery of the entire profession is linked to close combat and the electric shock mechanism, and the performance of the auto-aiming skill on Garland is actually worse than that of the auto-rifle.
If Arbitrator can pull out shock mines out of his a@& with one talent then Skitarii should be able to something similar with the Refractor Shield. Mind you, it costs them their “companion” as well.
Aura talents are at horrible positions.
Arc Maul not electrocuting while active (unless bugged)???
Honestly, I don’t see how the Skitarii’s performance differs from existing classes, or how those differences translate into advantages. For area suppression, there’s the Hive Scum; for taking out high-value targets with fire from Psykers and Zealots, there’s the Veteran; as a tank, the Skitarii is close to the worst; and I think their ability to support allies is inferior to what other classes offer. The Chordclaw? It’s cool, sure, but what about its performance? To be honest, I think the Zealot’s Thunder Hammer is more powerful. I think the Skitarii’s only real advantage is that you get to experience playing as a Skitarii. Some might say that’s enough, but there are bound to be people who find that disappointing, right? After all, this is DLC, isn’t it? I think it’s fair to have some complaints.
Personally, I’d like to see a clearer direction for the Skitarii. A class that wipes out large groups in one go? A support class that aids allies and makes them stronger? Or an assassin that reliably takes out high-value targets?
#This was written using a translation tool. I realize others might not fully understand it, so please bear with me on that point.
Wouldn’t be surprised if the servo skull blitz and its ability to shoot faster on tagging enemies receives some kind of nerf in the future, i can pretty much play through an entire game and just have the servo skull basically kill everything for me, oh and it can do the data interrogator minigames, oh and it can revive teammates up to 25 meters away.
Haven’t tried everything out yet but i think im already settling on the build i want to play after i get penances out of the way
But overall the class is good and fun, i mean its a paid dlc class so its gonna be strong no matter what. Just curious what nerfs it’ll get in ~6 months or so ![]()
