Size of the game

Uncompressed assets(in this case,maps) for the sake of faster loadtime

Community asked for content. Fatshark increase disk space requirements instead.

Why do you care about file size if you stopped playing in October of 2019? Is this game living in your head.

I recently played some VT1 again.
It has at least as many maps as VT2, they load at least as fast as VT2, and yet the entire game is half the size.
Is it the weaves maps taking so much space ?

I actually think that this is the case.

Weave maps are mostly just parts of original ones.
However, if you go to modded realm and use Flight mod to roam around them, you can see those maps are actually the size of the basic ones. And only small objects like torches, barrels etc. are removed. But trees, walls, building are still there, intact. And they often have collision, despite the fact the players aren’t supposed to interact with them.
So, essentially, we have not one War Camp, but nine War Camps, not one Fort, but nine Forts. You get the idea.
Yes, this and poor optimization are the main reasons game takes so much space. Someone got really lazy when creating Weaves.

Wondering how significant the decrease is. Going down by couple gb:s is fine and welcome but are we talking about some 20-40gb difference?

The WoM remaster was quite significant. I don’t remember the exact number from back then, but I think it was quite substantial, maybe in the 30something ballpark.

Ye think i recall it being in the 20-30 ranges, now that we are talking about “re-master” is the amount going to be even larger? Curious to see and honestly i take anything to reduce the current 100 gb:s.
