Shotgunners and their bulletspread

For me, it seems really wierd that they have close to no Bulletspread, and thus are able to gun me down as good as sniper could, from reasonably far range.

The problem for me is that they shoot from more accurate shotgun than ours(not counting aimed shot) with no bulletspread at all, the pellets hit me no matter the range.

So, I want their spread to be at least a size of Ogrin from middle range.
What are your thoughts?

I know that someone already wrote literally the same thing, but no one replied to him, so might as well try.

Shotgunners are honestly the most dangerous enemy in the game. They don’t seem that bad because they aren’t that tough and their attack isn’t all that impressive looking, but when you’re getting absolutely melted by ranged enemies it’s almost always because there is a shotgunner or two mixed in there who simply cast yeetus deletus on your toughness bar.

I think it’s also a consequence of how shotguns work though, because it seems to me that in Darktide damage is not calculated per pellet, but instead if any pellet hits you then you take the full damage of the shotgun, only reduced by range falloff. I actually really like doing shotguns that way because it makes them good at killing crowds instead of basically being a melee weapon where they are only worth using at ranges where you can guarantee that all pellets connect. The enemy shotguns could drop off their damage a bit more with distance though.

Its not more accurate then the shotgun we get. I can kill a sniper 70 meters away with a shotgun. Its the same thing…

Yeah you can shoot the player shotgun pretty far but its damage is pretty underwhelming. Meanwhile shotgunners while snipe 140 toughness and 40% HP in one shot. They’re pretty wicked on Damnation, along with the Scab shooters that do like 3X the HP damage Dreg shooters do. So many games where I get instantly toughness broke and 200 HP gone from a couple Scabs walking into range while I’m reviving someone.

Shotgunners demand respect and they almost always come as groups of 3. Show them the respect they deserve by focusing them asap or sit on the ground. They dont need a nerf since they are very easy to kill and if you get in melee range then they are useless.

What makes them dangerous is that they negate the normal grace period you get when your toughness breaks. Usually if a salvo breaks your !shield you can soak the rest of it, shotgunners aren’t beholden to that grace period. Combined with how hard they hit and their surprising range, it makes them incredibly frustrating enemies IMO. Not to mention their lack of wind up so it’s also a PITA to pop them around corners.

This is the truth. If I’ve got snipers, muties, bombers, the lot in front of me and I see a shotgunner, I’m prioritising the shotgunner. They are legitimately the most dangerous enemy.

I know, that we can do that funny thing, that’s why I said not counting aimed shot.

Also, I too think that they don’t need a nerf, I just wanted them to have a bigger spread, otherwise from the side it looks a little odd to me

Now that I thought about it and read some of the replies, I belive that their damage calculation is indeed what Aetrion said(if one pellet hit then all damage applied), and that’s why it feels more accurate.

I belive that he is not the most dangerous enemy by himself, but the hardest to avoid easily.
That is because they get close to you, they usually in a crowd, which also means that you probably would not be able to dodge properly sometimes(because of the collision) and they come in numbers(they surround you).

Also when they are in numbers, it’s almost impossible to dodge them, so I partialy agree with you
