Shock Troop Gauntlet

Can we please have a Shock Troop Gauntlet that doesn’t spawn specials but elites instead?

I’m tired of Mutants, Dogs, Flamers, Trappers and the horrible Tox Bombers. They are just not fun to play against.

There was a modifier for just elites (and also for just hordes) but they haven’t come back since they came out for a week or so. I low-key suspect it was initially from not wanting to bloat the modifier list, but here we are today.

A couple of those event modifiers that have generated elite waves have had specialist logic (as in they are already aggro’d and will reacquire aggro automatically when stealth ends). They could definitely do a mode where it generates some mixed call of elites, probably from behind and one forward to make them less fodder for AoE.

Also that endless horde modifier was great and could really come back. Sometimes it’s fun to have infinity bollards to cut down…maybe combine that with a shock trooper elite modifier. So the mix up is distinctly NOT specialists all day every day. Just a mosh of constant melee action.

Fatshark mode engaged: Hey guys new content drop. You know the mutie and dog waves? Our dev team has been hard at work ok this one. TRAPPER WAVES, now with 20 trappers simultaneously !!!

In 6 months we get pox burster waves that leave bomber fire patches on the ground. YAY!

New enemies for this modifier, the trapper that shoots out trappers instead of nets! The new net bomber! Grenades that explode into nets! The net mutant! It leaves a trail of nets, and when it grabs you, it wraps you gently in a net before bouncing you like a ball! Nets!

What does this even mean, “not bloat the modifier list”? In a game so stale and static as DT, where we have to replay same missions for years as they don’t release new ones, ANY variety is a gust of fresh air we need desperately. The longer that list will be - the better.

I already got got by Siamese trappers multiple times last night. Don’t put this evil into the world.

I guess Fatshark thought they were boring or something. My opinion that it was because of bloating the modifier list was how they were slowly digging themselves into a corner and more technical debt by how they implemented modifiers (it was questionably expandable, making custom icons for every combination of modifiers was probably relatively unsustainable and more work than wanted, etc.) and their previous failures in having special modifiers rotate weekly and then they consolidated all the different increased spawn modifiers into the high-intensity and STG modifiers.

I agree the more the better, but the more there are also increases the chance of never getting the one you want, but since the current status quo is that those modifiers effectively don’t exist at all, having a chance is better than none. Still an arse way of doing it though.
