Shock maul buff, change?

I love the shock mauls, great job FS, however i have some ideas of how it could be improved in some scenarios.

The main build i use for Shock Mauls: Shock Maul - Build for Darktide - Darktide WH40k

  • Unyielding - The damage against unyielding feels a little week, taking too long to kill monstrosities, bulwarks and reapers with it (compared with “similar” weapons).

  • Maniac - i’m referring exclusively to ragers and mutants, compared to Indignatus Crusher, combat axes or other weapons, i don’t feel the same confidence to fight hordes of ragers with the shock mauls, could it be because i don’t have +25 damage on maniac?, often if i fight (melee) more than 6/7 ragers (without ulting FotF) i find myself wasting “until death”(this doesn’t happen with scab ragers).

Breakpoints are not reached often to one shot mutants even weakened ones, how i said i don’t have +25 damage on maniac, soo i might be wrong.

  • Mobility: why Dodge Limit is caped on 4, Dodge Distance is 0.89 - 0.96 (worse than combat axe or any similar weapon), it really doesn’t need to be like that.

  • Blessings: I feel like most of his “unique” blessings are very mid.

  1. Entropic: does it have cooldown or has infinite uses, im currently using it on my best shock maul, but it doesn’t feel that great, why would i be blocking a enemy to electrocute him instead of just swinging at him until he or the horde is dead?, i can see the use of it if you are caught in the middle of a big horde, but still, i just prefer to keep swinging at them.
  2. Stunned Expression: remove its cooldown or reduce it, if i’m fighting a horde can the blessing guess the highest priority enemy or just stun a groaner every 3 seconds?
  3. High Voltage: I guess if you like to use the special attack u could find a use for it, otherwise as i said, if you are getting +25 damage against a groaner every 3 seconds thanks to “Stunned Expression”, i’ll let it pass.
  4. Opportunist: it gives u +25 Rending on Staggered enemies, who are the most difficult enemies to stagger? exactly, the ones i want to use rending on.

Give these blessings and functionality to Indignatus Mk IVe Crusher.

  • Special Attack: I don’t like how the SA works, especially in how my game runs (200 ping, big stutters), i think it can be inproved in a way that helps blessings too. Rework it, instead of a electric stab, now u charge the shock maul and the next hit this gives you +25% chance of electrify an enemy (base chance to electrify an enemy will be 5%). Now it can electrify several enemies at the same time (max 5, idk).

I would suggest taking Hammerblow and Skullcrusher. You’ll stagger all the ragers and do good damage to them. It’s very safe. Additionally with Fotf for more damage and stagger is a bit nutty. (Haven’t tried this loadout on Vet or Psyker. I soent 3 million dockets getting this shockmaul on Zealot I’m not doing that again.

I agree on having more Unyielding damage. I honestly wish bosses had different or a unique damage type. I’d be fine with Shock Mauls being bad against Bulwarks and Reapers but I really don’t like it’s low boss damage.

I currently really like the special attack, I think it’s cool and thematic, and situationally useful. I would’ve liked to see at least 1 blessing that interacts specifically with the special attack however. I need to check if oppeetunist works against enemies that are stunned.

Just make it so it doesn’t require hammerblow to be able to stagger Rager/Ogryn.

It’s a bit stupid when combat axe can do it consistenly without any help from perk or blessing while literal weapon that have crowd control for stat can’t do it.

Ragers are not crowds. Ragers are squads of elites. Ogryn too.

IMO the real problem is that the axes can stagger these targets so easily and that should be removed.

I mean, almost every game use that word to refer any kind interupt action now single target or so idk? also are we gonna argue about what is consider to be a ‘crowd’ ? lol

but yeah, if they not gonna buff Shockmaul stagger then just nerf Combat Axe’s instead, people are not gonna be happy though.

Axes mostly ignore stagger reduction, which lets them dab on Ragers during their 50% stagger resistance they gain while attacking. Especially with how easy it is to add power (and therefore more stagger) through their blessings.
