Took it for a spin on my psyker (needed a good cc melee).
Holy sh*t.
It activates and deals electricity damage automatically, with the special being a longer stun rather than just turning the weapon on.
The existing power and chain weapons should be brought up to this standard. It feels so much more satisfying having the ‘gimmick’ freely available for the weapon type instead of the base weapon being gimped to make you rely on the special.
Sounds too powerful so the worshippers of Nurfle will be out soon on the forums to beg for it to become a feather duster. I’ll try and play with it before that happens. Just need another 6 months of grinding plasteel to unlock the pickaxe IV blessings first
110% agreed. Myself and @Wahid were discussing this exact topic in our Discord DMs just the other day.
For example, Chainswords and Power Swords should ALWAYS be activated… with a nerfed form of their current activated attacks in order to prevent them from being COMPLETELY broken.
Activation Specials should be replaced with some kind of gimmick related to the “activated” Weapon rather than just being their activation… which is EXACTLY what Shock Mauls do.
Fatshark takes a W on these Shock Mauls; I was completely wrong to disregard them prior to the update.
Agree so hard. I’d like to see the chain sword have a really INTERSTING performance. Like it should ragdog the lighter weight enemies towards you.
Special would reverse the chain and fling them away, but do less damage, and both still in operation while blocking. OR maybe that could be on/off as part of the block.
If I’d been creative lead, I might have left the powersword out, but make the chainsword a lot closer to where the powersword is.
Also, it’s really a big thing that most people today, not using blades all the time on everything, don’t really understand how blades cut. I’d get the whole team a test cutting class with a HEMA or kenjitsu instructor to spark their inspiration.
Because blades cut on the slide (slice,) a chainsword with it’s moving edge should cut something like a sword with a blade 15 feet long.
