Screw the Daemonhost

If the devs are going to take an enemy from Left 4 Dead, they need to take what made it not an absolutely horrible experience. If someone triggers the daemonhost, ONLY that person needs to be obliterated. It is not fair to the rest of the team for one troglodyte to trigger the daemonhost and it then go after TWO random people. It punishes everyone for one’s mistake. Also, make it actually possible to kill. I am playing on 2/5 difficulty and with myself and my friend MAGDUMPING into this bastard, it isn’t even half health. I can’t even be bothered to waste the ammo.

Someone triggered the daemonhost. 2 people die. There is nothing you can do about it. There is also no indication of who did it so it seems entirely random. Please explain what this god-forsaken thing is to new people and make it only punishing to the neanderthal who disturbed it.

i was playing in a Damnation match recently, was hunting for resources their was a Large Plasteel next to it, i thought i could get it with out triggering it.

it woke and came after me, i timed my dodges and blocks as my team shot it, i was playing as a Psyker with a forcesword. i was able to dodge and tank enough for my team to down it with no loss of life. you can tank it and win, if not than just ignore it and move around its never in a place where you cant find a way around.

i do think the one who wakes it should be the first one attacked and focused, but its not immortal, it can be beaten and with timing your dodges and blocking you can take it on.

Demon host is fine and working as intended.

… that an Ogryn with a shield can just tank it with the push of a button should be nerfed somewhat, but otherwise its just fine. I have seen non-Ogryn tank it. Very impressive. I can not do that at the moment, but I will at some point.

They do attack the person who activated them first. That way you can tell who it was.
At first they definitely seem daunting. I see the frustration and can identify with it, since we also had it. The classic “why??” response whenever one is attacked intentionally is almost iconic now.

In time, you will see that a psyker can tank and dodge, a preacher can as well as the ogryn shield wall. Avoiding them is a skill that needs to be developed. TBH, they are not nearly as dangerous as the lore suggests, and thank goodness for that. Wait until you are in Hab dreyko and spawn a beast of nurgle and plague ogryn at the same time. That is hairy stuff.

I’ve always seen it go after the player that triggers it first, although I will admit my sample size is not exhaustive.

We killed four of them in one T3 mission last night (they spawn heavily on the Power Malfunction missions because, yes, like the L4D witch they’re triggered by lights) because one of the players wanted to rack up Monstrosity kills for their weekly contracts.

The key thing is that the player who triggers them needs to be good about tanking the damage (until said player is downed, the hosts ignore all other players), and some classes can do that well.

(It can also help to have a psyker on the team, to be able to engage it from outside its corruption radius without using up massive amounts of ammo).
