Where are you? are you talking about an other mod? which one?
what. Yes/No effects other players as in they can hear it
Smite was a pretty fun game back when I played it, I got really good with some bruisers like Amaterasu and Bellona… Oh… Not that Smite.
On topic, kills definitely aren’t everything and I’d rather have someone who can control a Horde for the team than someone who only wants to max his kill count. Not everyone can be the quarterback
I agree. I think damage taken is a hugely important metric. I think when it comes to skill progression and climbing the difficulty ladder it’s about the most important metric.
It’s not often, but when I see someone go down 10+ times in Auric Damnation I wonder what if anything they’ve leaned along the way.
I’ve also ended runs having taken a fair amount of damage but not actually done down much (if at all) - but of course used a decent number of healing packs/stations/stims. So that’s part of the calculus too.
None of that means anything if you arent killing things. If you want to smite the entire mission go carry the average horrible damnation player to victory with your crutch ability you cant play psyker without. Also im not talking about psykers who use smite 3% of the mission when it matters im talking about horrible psykers who play with a shield because they have horrible positioning and lack general awareness or skill in any regard. They cant even melee 3 zombies without going down but theyre getting through hi shock missions because they can smite all game while everyone else kills everything. Also I find it quite hilarious many smite psykers think everything smite touches is taking an additional 200% damage when thats not at all how empowered psionics works. There isnt a single person who doesnt value CC but there is a difference between using smite as a cc tool and never using your staff all game slowing the game down for everyone else.
Noooooo…
I do believe in not starting a Smite debate,
I do believe in not starting a Smite debate,
I do believe in not starting a Smite debate!
I used to have it, I was more interested in my own performance more than anything, but I also became resentful of underperformers. When im scoring 110-150 most of the time and im running with people scoring 50-80.
I ended up turning it to only show at the end of the match, to stop me feeling toxic and calling people out. Bear in mind i am not generally a toxic person.
I think the aggregate score is not very good, it highlights rankings and performance, we all (mostly) naturally, in this genre like to compete more for bragging rights, and when we see someone underperforming, we can all end up a bit toxic or feeling resentful.
So I am not really for any scoreboard that ranks or scores players like that, personal stats like kills and elite kills etc are perfectly fine, but anything more than that is just asking for toxic drama and bitching.
Just wanted to quickly say if they did add your version, i’d still use the mod over it because i simply want to see other people’s stats that i can compare to.
I dont want to compromise because i dont see why should i. People that want scoreboard have the mod and people that dont, dont have it.
The only problem is console players, but forgive me for my selfishness but i honestly couldnt care less. If they wanted it that much, they’d speak up about it more.
I most certainly am not going to go out fighting for something they themselves dont really care about that much.
(the only reason im posting is to provide counterweight and protect what i already have (the mod))
Exactly. All the hardcore sweats on PC already have it. If they want it, they can download it. I play on auric damnation, beat hardcore twins mode, etc. I’m a very competent player and I use 0 mods. I play to enjoy the game and I am friendly and helpful to new player wishing to improve their gameplay.
You are going to get everyone agreeing with you here on the forums because most people play at the highest level and are in the minority.
What I learned in over 1.2k hrs of Vermintide is that all a scoreboard does fuel toxicity and reckless behavior due to people trying to chase green circles. Also, you can already see in some DT discords where people post their stats and just clown on other people. Definitely not welcoming. I pray Fatshark does not implement a scoreboard mod in any way shape or form.
See below just in this thread alone lmao
Bro thinks damage is the only stat of value. Smite psyker and bubble provide excellent support which is arguably just as valuable as damage.
This is a classic example of why a scoreboard should not be implemented. I trust Fatshark knows this already. I’m happy with the current status quo of no scoreboard and I will be enjoying the game with no scoreboard at the end screen. Thank you.
Sorry…but Nexus removes mods that go against Terms of Service. There’s a reason they’ve had to pull mods for this game and others and it’s usually because those mods directly go against the TOS of the game they are modding.
Overall, I think this is a great idea. I don’t want to be pedantic and nitpicky, or get caught up in semantics, so I’ll leave it at that for the most part. The only thing that I would add is that I would love a way to expand/collapse the tabs, and specifically for there to be a tab that tracked how many stack of whatever (whether it be soulblaze, bleeding, burning, rending, brittleness, or whatever else) you applied, as some builds are based around maximizing the spread of such things.
In an ideal world, there would be a menu that you could access you Stat Board from multiple previous missions, and also a way for it to track you PB in each category. A good balance of “fun stuff” stats and practical ones.
In fairness to the current Scoreboard mods, my understanding has always been that they are doing the best they can w/ the very limited information that the game actually tracks. I think realistically, to get a better “Stat Screen” into Darktide, it would require some intervention of FS’s part, but even still, I really like this concept. Good stuff.
““redundant history dump”” P2 actual response

as someone involved in the creation of the whole scoreboard mess back when DT wasn’t even on the table as a concept, my insights might be somewhat interesting to some, note that this debate jumped many threads and didn’t stay in one place.
back then was less of a debate and more of a think tank, about the usefulness of the Data gathered by the scoreboard, which I strongly opposed. (still do)
as it became more homogenous in the agreement of its uselessness, the group started to find rationalizations why it should be removed.
The initial point of toxicity was raised more as an anecdote, but for some reason was focused on heavily on both sides by the various people coming to debate the topic.
if Fatsharks decision to not include a scoreboard in DT was influenced by that debate, it likely happened around this time.
the debate didn’t die initially but slowed down until first views on DT, and obvious lack of scoreboards raised questions, many (and i mean it) new threads where opened lots of speculation happened and people tried to rationalize etc.
many new people flocked to these threads and the people who liked to have a scoreboard seem to be outnumbering the opposing side at least 5 to 1 if not twice that.
people eventually split into camps that either died on a hill defending the decision or lumped everyone into the same category,
(you oppose you must agree with all points raised by random people also opposing, ergo you hold ridiculous views)
at this point i had enough and decided I wouldn’t take part in active conversation as both sides kinda tried doing the impossible, refuting all points raised by either side, and this resulted lots of generalizations, horrendous misrepresentation of ideas and maddening straw manning as you’d had to condense ideas to even reply within reason.
some people even started mocking each other.
Those who tried to have an honest discourse had a hard time at this point in time.
and thats the reason why the scoreboard is a topic that can get heated even today.

just to give anything useful to the thread:
I still think an old-fashioned scoreboard isn’t accomplishing anything that would be of actual use.
comparing scores of one game to the next is way less meaningful as people seem to think. and people overestimate their ability to gather meaningful data.
having a terminal in the HUB that provides stats of not just one game but let’s say the last 30,50,100 or more games and calculate averages would be way more reasonable to provide any meaningful statistics to help/show -players how- to improve/they have been improving.
HOWEVER: i do recognize that having a tangible visible feedback just feels nice
and even analyzing and raising DATA from poor quality information still can have merit if you’re doing it long enough, and more importantly makes one feel good and accomplished if it does correspond with your wished outcome.
Even tho I think people effectively fool themselves, which I couldn’t comprehend, I totally overlooked the comforting aspects of it.
and since my stance was always indifferent towards having it maybe a little anti as I saw it as a self distracting tool
and most reasons to strictly prevent it don’t hold much water, if at all
this very simple argument which you could condense to “it just feels nice bro” tipped me over into having it, I know dumb right.
PS: toxicity argument is dumb this argument shouldn’t exist, tool for toxicity my arse
It’s weirdly similar debate to the US control debate, just that you’re not talking about some people offing others, but someone on the INTERNET hurting your feelings with a number? It’s frankly ridiculous.
Yes, some D*cks overdo it, but it should be the devs prerogative to act accordingly and not ever should any aspect of a game be cut solely because it could be used in a toxic manner.
it’s a lame excuse, are you saying that this guy decides what you put in your game?
Thanks for listening to my TedTalk
Well said
Simple as
intresting take, tho i think i disagree, bad players should play hard difficulties if they want to,
you’re not gonna learn swimming if you learn in a 10cm high kiddie pool, you learn it once your dad throws you headfirst in a lake and watches you almost drown while holding your mom back calmly saying “he got this” with stars in his eyes.
Overly dramatic phrases aside, I don’t think playing a lower difficulty prepares you to be competent at a higher one, and gradual improvement only goes so far.
ofc that’s assuming that you understood the basics.
You are damn right.
Just an anecdote to support this:
I was playing vermintide 2 with my wife and she was horrible, she would get downed to hordes on legend, couldn’t dodge sh-t. We were both kinda fed up with it, so as a last ditch effort we started playing duo Cata with bots. She improved by a mile within 3 games, and a week after we were just playing Cata regularly.
Of course people need to want the personal improvement, to get better, but playing above your level, and actively trying to improve is the fastest way to make progress.
This whole conversation is moot.
-
The “toxic” numbers that make up the contents of the current popular scoreboard mods are still available to us, so mods will still be able to pull them out and present them.
-
People need a reason to switch over to a new scoreboard. I feel like there’s no reason to do that here.
-
Scoreboards aren’t toxic, people are toxic. Turds will find a way to be turds with or without numbers to act as catalysts.
Exactly this. Paying Veteran didn’t prepare me for Champion, which didn’t prepare me for Legendary, which didn’t prepare me for Cataclysm (gear aside, obviously). There was a point in my transition to Champion that I genuinely thought “it’s because I don’t have lv 30 talents or full 300 gear.” so I stayed in veteran for a while until it was too easy and Champion was still too hard. Then I said “well… Better just stick with Champion because I’m not learning anything in Veteran.” almost the same situation with the transition to Legend and Cataclysm. I thought I could prepare myself in the lower difficulty and you just can’t. You can learn the basics, sure, but that’s not going to help you with the Special Spawn patterns on higher difficulties, or help you with horde control while taking care of said specials, or just horde control so you don’t get overwhelmed at the stronger and more populace chaff.
I like how people use different scoreboard mods so the scores arent even the same most of the time making peer to peer review useless. There will always be toxic people anyway and the scoreboard can be used against them. Official scoreboard when pls.
