Warhammer 40,000: Darktide Gameplay Feedback

The good

-Sound- the sound design is amazing i listen to the in game music in my free time

-Graphics- amazing it looks phenomenal all the maps and scenery (it can be hard on older computer’s or the Xbox one my friends on console crashed more than i did)
(the gothic art style was also cool edit: as heck)

-Gameplay-I loved playing all the classes every map was cool and different
all the classes and builds you can make, there was just so much variety in what limited content is in the game it self it was amazing to play for the first time i was hooked.

-Penances-Though some very hard to achieve it was fun and engaging to get the penances that gave cosmetics and do a whole new look every time
-Team play-This game is amazing to play with a decent team each person playing their own part and working as a cohesive group was super fun and made it easy to make new friends while i played.
-Lore- I did not know Warhammer existed before i played this it was a great intro to the awesome and holy empiric universe that is 40k

The bad
-servers-The servers a have been atrocious since launch.
I crash more than any game i have ever played, such as dying light 2 but they fixed that right away.
Fat shark added crossplay when it launched on June 28, 2023 for the xbox that made the servers worse with all the other bugs yet to be fixed, to this day I still crash then i ever did playing rust which is way more intensive and large scale.
-Live service lie-The only live service is the cosmetic every thing else has either been delayed and full of bugs after the content gets dropped.
where are the new classes each quarter? it has been very disengaging.
-Toxicity among the player base- i have met far more ruse or toxic players then I have that are friendly i have been told to shut up or blown of the map by people by an explosive barrel on several occasion after all i said is hello
or what penance I’m working on.
-bugs-weapon swap bug been in the game since launch (could be due to the server problem)
i have been knocked out of bounds on the new map (and some of the old one to this current day) survived and unable to re-enter the playable area.
characters in the Mourningstar walking around in underwear(ruins immersion if anyone cares about that like i do).
Pox burster silently spawn in front of you right at the top of a staircase
i sometimes take damage and i dont even know from what(possibly the servers issue)
-only rng-Every weapon and and trinket in the game is rng base and can be modified very little i did an auric mission took almost 45 minutes got an orange class weapon that was worse than any weapon I that i just spam bought from Braun at the gray class of weapon tier and then consecrated since then i have not touched auric since it give’s no penance cosmetics or steam achievement

to any who saw my last post it got removed because some one got their feeling hurt and spam reported my post after insulting me andi called them out and the moderator didn’t proof read everything else i was saying to any who had a problem with what I said without insulting me I’m not going to respond to or talk to any who comment in this post i don’t have time and I need to sleep but I will read all comments when they were positive or negative or even just funny i was going to respond to every serious inquiry but that showed me Fatshark doesn’t deserve that much work.

TL;DR:
Darktide was not claimed to be a full commitment to Live Service, but anyone who believes it should be forgiven regardless because shoddy summary work by a reporters spread this message as an official looking source.

That’s unlucky, there are bag grapes in every community, but tbh I don’t think DT is a game that has many toxic players (also your previous post was a tad toxic)

Which thankfully will be changed with the coming itemisation update.

I feel you might be being “slightly” unfair with your judgement, especially that you enjoyed the game for 500 hours?

Also to play the devil’s advocate for a bit.

Game crashing as in to the desktop isn’t caused by the server crashing, in that case you would get booted to the player selection screen with some sort of an error message “Error 2312”. The game’s stability has improved quite a bit since the launch, I have crashed more on my old rig which struggled to run the game properly for sure. Mods can also cause some crashes, but I keep these updated and I have increased the lua memory allowance, which stopped virtually
all “out of memory” crashes for me. These issues are really hardware and driver dependant. AMD GPU users tend to have bigger problems, in my experience, and this is down to AMD. Despite producing some amazing hardware, they are still lagging behind in terms of drivers and cooperation with game dev studios.

I barely ever crash now, the server stability hasn’t been a serious issue for us (few guys I tend to play with) also. Occasionally you might fail to connect to a session (likely because it ended), and most server crashes are caught quickly and fixed.

I’m not a fan of the live service model too., I consider it as just another excuse to launch games in “early access” state. The game launched in poor state, so a lot of time has been wasted on fixes, class tree redesign and weapon rebalance, itemisation/crafting system redesign…if only Fatshark listened STRAIGHT away to our feedback regarding crafting RNG.

HOWEVER, the game launched with 13 maps, now we have 20? We have seen also plenty of new weapons added. Talent tree redesign introduced a decent amount of new playstyles per class. New carriers would be welcome, but I would not hold my breath.

It could be that there is another story to tell about VT2 development issues, which made them slow down, ease up with Darktide development pace.

Overall I feel the game has plenty of content to explore and the core gameplay loop is pure gold (when it works), but this might also a matter of taste.

This is to be addressed FINALLY this September-ish?

I’m surprised you haven’t mentioned “silent” enemies / audio issues. This “might” have improved somewhat, but I still keep running into silent specials. This is the most obvious example that we still have an issue, It is obvious when you witness a special, be it a netter or a pox burster, which silently runs towards a team mate, and you can almost touch it.

ooh no i could not play devils advocate i like horde shoots and fps type of games,
and that is what happens when i crash i get sent to the chanter select and have to rejoin ruin any penance I’m working on it has only ever really crashed to my desktop one or two time’s,
and the live service is exactly as you put it I’m just tired and was not able to sleep so my articulation structure probably sucks the 20 maps are sick af,
I am really exiteeed about the itemization and will take another crack when its implemented all the way
and i did mention the pox bursters in bug i know the trappers and muties sometimes do it as well but they are not as bad as when it launched and those mobs were silent while being in the map already.

Hmm, what is your internet connection like? Speed? Technology? Fibre to the cabinet (FTTC) or to the premises (FTTP)?

Are you connected to your home router over Wifi or maybe something like Powerline (Ethernet over Power socket).

More than enough, also you are hard wired (I assume Ethernet cable) to the router, so it’s unlikely you have any issues there. Unless you are suffering excessive packet loss for some reason (a problem with your router or on your ISP end), I see no obvious issues here. I would Google around how to check that, and if you find any obvious problems contact your ISP for support. I would imagine you would experience some networking issues in other games also.

Also yeah, Flawless is right, you will get further if you label your constructive feedback with more appropriate title.

“My feedback about why I stopped playing” “Reasons why I’m not fully satisfied with the state of Darktide” are more than appropriate. That will go a long way between getting flagged and actually read.

Sorry you’re having/had a bad experience. My only recommendation is to take a break. I took a few months off playing and only play once a week or so now and its much more enjoyable.

Your grammar is hard to follow/read in several sections. I’m glad you’re liking the lore! It really is a great rabbit hole to dig into if you ever get the itch to read/audible.

Interesting how you haven’t mentioned Crafting/Upgrades after almost 500 hours or QoL.

Disagree, they were terrible at launch, but I think they are fine now. The new snow map didn’t have any issues and I typically play cross play with friends on discord. Although the console experience is trash! Are you playing on console?

Im curious what your expectations of a live service game is? I do think that the phrase “live service” is a bait that attract new players, but I don’t think they lied about the live service aspect.

Yea, this game seems to bring out the worst in people, the “no room” for errors tends to trigger those that are trying to get better. The penances for perfection also don’t help. The game requires so much control over your own playstyle that the lack of control for how others play can be very frustrating.

Yea, the weapons at the end of match are a joke, it’s sad because the on-launch way reward for weapons was much better, but FS succumbed to the crybabies on the internet, which is fine. I was already decked out before they switched the random rarity drops/guarantee after each match.
