A well written and interesting single player campaign that enriches the overall lore of 40k? That can also be played in COOP? Separate COOP PVE missions mode that are actually intertwined with the Campaign making them canon as well? No MTX shop that sells a single Ogryn knife skin for 5$? A Powersword acting like an actual Powersword? And even a PVP mode for all the tryhards to tests their mettle?
I really hope some other studio takes over when its time for Darktide 2. Tide games deserve much better because the gameplay is fire.
The gameplay is fire cause FS made it. And there isn’t any need for a DT2, not really any other Dev studio want to make tide games, even horde games are still in the bigger schemes of things rare.
And the gameplay of SM2 is really not that impressive, the story is from what I heard just a mirrored SM1, the number of weapons is quite low, and the weapon design (audio for the most part) is not great
fatshark does it good with animations, voice acting, gameplay itself, gameplay loop, fun factor with higher difficulties, very nice production with trailers, attention to the details etc.
and recently fatshark is quite improving in listening players’ feedback and actively answering questions from players. communication it has improved a lot recently which is the key to make a better game. and very important in games
if only valve would make left 4 dead 3
but seems like they don’t plan to do it because for them it was kinda a test the whole series
but true, such a nice genre but yet still a niche which is weird cause gameplay loop of these games has lot potential
Space marine 2 looks like one of the most boring, grindy, shallow, hold your hand type games ive seen in a long while and the combat is hilariously boring in comparison to darktide nor is it anywhere near as engaging. The fact that you have to grind servo skulls and camos to unlock things and you can just grind the first mission over and over is so dumb and the game looks boring as hell at the highest difficulty. Also the game barely has any content and can be beaten in like 12 hours. Idk why people keep comparing darktide and space marine they are two different games.
In fairness this is actually I think a good thing, Darktide didn’t need 9 different kinds of lasgun that are all gonna be treated as the exact same thing in tabletop 40k (S3 AP- D1 R24" Rapid Fire), that’s turned out to be difficult to manage and balance. SM2 still has twice the weapon count of many classic shooters like Unreal Tournament or Quake so that shouldn’t be a huge problem for it in and of itself.
Sadly true. The game is really pretty, but the gameplay is a bit lacking. It feels like it wanted to be a melee game but it didn’t devolop the melee hard enough and the ranged flat sucks even though you have dozens of guns.
You can’t really take cover or use cover at all because you just shoot the cover even though you should be high enough… and the enemy ranged is like Darktide’s before the first balance patch. Too much to deal with and no real healing solutions. Had to drop to normal difficulty.
So it’s like you armor is always broken because you can’t close to melee and you need to, but you can’t hold back and ranged because you can’t heal doing that.
Later in the game it evens out but the first couple levels were annoying.
Are we done with these kinds of threads yet? It’s the exact same argument over and over and I’m bored of it. Had it for HD2 as well. Give me some proper discourse.
Having just finished the campaign solo and first co-op operation with randos, I can safely say that Space Marine 2 in no way has the depth of Darktide. Tide players are not going to flock to it for any length of time, and people who want a more shooting-focused PVE game with depth are going to drop that game the moment Gears of War E-Day comes out, if not sooner.
The game is OK at best and has a slew of problems. Some will undoubtedly be fixed, but the core gameplay has issues that likely never will be.
gears of war was used to be a nice franchise, but imo they kinda ruined it with the recent ones meh
i liked the older ones, but really cool series also that about coop
The campaign of 5 is terrible, but it has a much better co-op suite than Space Marine 2, at least thus far. We’ll see how well Sabre supports operations.
Mechanically, Gears 5 kinda craps all over SM2, but that was to be expected. It’s the pinnacle of TPS gunplay.
But to make the point even more abundantly clear, that’s the series Space Marine 2 is competing against. It’s nothing like Darktide.
