Rumbler has been laughed at for a long time for being weak, in this new update, it has not been buffed directly… IF you take the “Fire Away” talent, it will do a bit of burn dmg, but this talent is also quite hard to reach on the far right of the tree (you are blocked from taking bullrush)
So just go down the right side?
Explosions aren’t affected by ranged dmg boost…
This means
“Hail of fire” and “light em up” are both useless…
Oh… I knew from personal testing GG special didn’t get ranged boosts. I’d assumed this was a dumb, unique quirk of the special. So it’s all explosions…
@FatsharkStrawHat got any explanation why explosions from a ranged weapon doesn’t count as ranged damage? I assume that can’t be a bug but I’m at a complete loss as to why something so unintuitive would be implemented.
I know all of those affect the Rumbler projectile directly, I don’t know if they affect the GG projectile because I would never use PBB with the GG, either because that’s real bad for my ammo pool.
@alsozara I second this. I know the announcement post made a big deal to specify that special attacks from ranged weapons get bonuses from melee talents, but I’ve been under the assumption that meant melee talents were going to increase the explosion of the Grenade Gauntlet’s special explosion, not just the punch itself.
Weren’t they only talking about attack speed specifically?
GG special scaling with melee damage would honestly make the most sense, but considering you’re pretty much locked into the first half of right tree if you want to get access to big boom, making ranged damage bonuses work for it would probably be more coherent. It would also make more sense if they fix explosions to count as ranged damage.
Here’s my guess why they don’t. Explosions all share the same tags in the code and they don’t want ranged bonuses affecting grenades, so gunlugger Rumbler or GG just have to eat sh!t as a consequence.
Can you imagine if Vet had a grenade launcher and it just didn’t get boosted by any of his ranged damage bonuses? There would be a riot. It’s lucky for FS Ogryn players are so much more chill.
Meanwhile, Uncanny Strike or Lethal Prox turn shredder frag grenades into WMDs for the Vet.
Yeah, I can see the conundrum. I don’t personally think I’d mind if Ogryn could get increases to explosive damage anywhere in the tree, because his uses of grenades are so limited.
Yes, I’ve made another post about how shrapnel is useless
Because the radius of shrapnel is so small, it only hits enemies that are really close to the shell, essentially meaning you need to take “Adhesive Charge” and this only applies 4 stacks of bleed to that target
I have suggested to change the way shrapnel works to the way “Fire Away” does
So shrapnel would be:
Your Explosions apply 1 Stack(s) of Bleed. 2 Stack(s) if close range. Max Stacks 8
