I find the condition of this talent is quite problematic as it anti-synergises with more advanced movesets of some weapons like Relic Blade, Crusher, Heavy Sword, Devil’s Claw, etc. Usually a player generates max stacks with a high-cleave heavy attack and spends them on a low-cleave light attack to continue a combo. With the light attack a player usually doesn’t cleave many enemies so the heavy attack only benefits from 1-2 stacks. At its current state the talent is more of a tax node than something useful.
But it’s easy to fix changing how it works to something like Arbitrator’s Hammer of Judgement talent. +15 or 20% melee damage for 3 seconds on hitting 3 or more enemies with a melee attack. It would make the talent more consistent and equally beneficial for both simple and complex weapon movesets.
That was how it used to work, but that was changed with the zealot rework. I’m pretty sure now it builds stacks on every swing. So for moderate and high cleave weapons, against low-mass enemies it’s like a constant +15% damage boost at minimum.
Whatever mod you’ve got for that red text on damage has destroyed the talent description. It activates for every attack. I just tested it in the psykh. The mod is the problem, not the talent. It’s still working. You can test it to see for yourself.
I know that it generates stacks on every attack but it doesn’t solve the problem with this talent. It only benefits weapons with lights spam moveset like Mk XV Eviscerator.
Would be useful to work out the average benefit per swing. If it’s 10%+ then it’s ok value for a point. 15% would put it on the same level as an arbites damage talent.
If you know it works, then you know it’s actually amazing for those combos if the low cleave option is like the relic blade thrust or a crusher overhead. If you already understand that it works, then you’re just not accounting for it in your play are you?
If you look at the buff bar this talent is at 1 stack most of the time, especially in Havoc where enemies have increased hit mass. It’s not amazing, 25% backstab damage is literally better than it but going for Disdain is the easiest way to pick Enemies Within, Enemies Without + Second Wind. The buff is just very inconsistent.
Interesting, I’ve heard mixed things when it comes to disdain, some consider it “meta” since you have to pick one of the top nodes and they consider it better than extra backstab/ flank damage.
