[Rework] Huntsman

Huntsman is already strong in the right hands but has a very specific play style would like to expand on it for more fun and variety… even though not going to be implemented.

Suggestions & Ideas for fun adjustments, improvements and synergies. Numbers and not all talents could be implemented to keep things balanced.

Hunters Prowl:
Huntsman fades into the shadows for 6 seconds or until his next attacks. Gains 1 ammo and next range attack does massive damage (crit / 6x damage slightly lower than~Shades damage, can pass through enemies unnoticed, no long er bobs camera down)

Waste Not, Want Not:
Ranged headshots and critical shots recover 1 ammunition, 2 if both.

[Call Out Weakness] Hunter’s Insight:
Aura, increases critical strike chance by 5% (Double effective range of Auras)

Tier 1:

[Taste of Victory] Burst of Enthusiasm:
Ranged headshots & critical strikes grant 2 temp health, double if both.
(temp health being more temporary think we can reintroduce range temp health in general but based on certain criteria per range class)

Tier 2:

Maim:
First shot maims enemies, undamaged enemies are knocked down , damaged enemies are slowed in movement and attack speed by 50% for 3 seconds, can only occur once.

Tier 4:

Thrill of the Hunt:
After scoring a critical strike next shot counts as a headshot.

[Burst of Enthusiasm] Aim Small Miss Small:
Doubles effects of Waste Not, Want Not.

Tier 5:

[Shot Crafter] Eye of the Tiger
Critical hits grant 5% attack speed & movement speed for 5 seconds, stacks up to 2x.(plays eye of the tiger sound track while buff is active)

[Master Huntsman] Monster Hunter:
Increases monster damage by 10%, Killing a monster reduces damage taken by 30%, last until death.

[Longshanks] Hunter’s Bounty:
Killing enemies with ranged critical shots & headshots reduces cooldown of Hunter’s Prowl by 5%

Tier 6:

Concealed Strikes:
Hunter’s Prowl effects next 3 attacks (melee or ranged) before breaking stealth.

[Head Down and Hidden] Hunter’s Pace:
Hunter’s Prowl last 10 seconds and acts like live version.

…Criticize, Improve, Ignore or Enjoy!

The only thing I’d like to see some attention is the handgun (on bardin too actually).

My gripes with that career: Huntsman is just a strange one. His Blunder is able to clear waves, but a lot less efficient than Sienna to the point you dont need him when she is there, his Monster damage is horrible if you dont hit heads reliably or get lucky with Makin It Look Easy, which kind of annoys me since the two “dangerous” Monsters, Mino and Spawn, are both incredibly hard to hit in the head. His ability to clear Elites is maimed by his weapons and Talents. His during wave special clear lacks behind even his non range focused careers, since its really difficult to get room, while having half an hour cooldown on your next invisibility. Some might say “Waystalker and Bounty also have no room to breath”, which just tells me you hardly played them. One has an on demand killswitch paired with a stagger everything while Panik spamming weapon, the other one a delete that knocks down incase it doesnt kill and penetrates, while also having the option to have basiacally now cd incase you aim halfway decent.
In the End, some of your changes, especially the prowl one, would help. But some simple tweaks, like bumping up Thrill of the Hunt to 30%, and adding back in the railgun part of the Handgun would go a long way. I would also love if they Changed Makin it look easy to something more reliable. Be it “next shot counts at headshot”, or just a “100% crit”.

Atm Huntsman isnt satisfying to play to me in a way Sienna, Waystalker, or Bounty are.
(Also not a fan of the option to get four to eight THP per Headshot/crit.)

how? Blunder can literally 1 shot waves.

I find his range weapons lackluster in general too. Blunderbuss used to have more usage in boss damage but now it’s more of a one trick horde killing pony with a longer reload and no butt ammo return, should definitely revert.

Otherwise was thinking of a weapon special ability that modified or gives him another shooting style specific to his weapons, not sure how to tie into huntsmans theme…

Hunter’s Trick? Toggles alternative shooting style.

Rifle - Loaded for Two - shoots 2 round at once.

Repeater - Scope - right click zooms instead of rapid fire.

Blunderbuss - Funnel Tipped - shoots narrow concentrated burst, zooms on right click penetrates armor more.

Bow - Hunters Form - toggle to slower zoom early bow style.

IMO Bluntsman is the strongest ranged career in the game. Easily top special kills, overall kills, damage, and elites. Monster damage is the only thing it lacks. Even then, T-Spear does really good monster damage on Huntsman with headshot damage and smiter if you are looking for monster damage.

Manbow is also very strong although it needs a little more mobility imo. Being able to 2-3 shot CW on Cata is pretty beefy.

Handgun and repeater both kinda suck for huntsman.

Blunder is great, until there is one shield that block your whole volley, or you want to shoot some special that is a couple of meters away. Its also horribly hard to “snipe” Hook Rats from waves since those bastards take a bazillion pellets to the face, which might or might not get blocked.
Blunder surely is the betterish choice for Huntsman, but its nowhere near the versatility of a Hag, or Fireball staff, which are both for grinding waves and both will basically kill anthing that is not a CW in the blink of an eye, which also counts in monsters. They also both care a lot less about shields in waves (or CWs who also eat up everything you toss at them).

Longbow is really nice, but in cata only if you are Willhelm Tell. Its nice a weapon exists that rewards skilled gents, but the whole class should not revolve around it.

Shields stop fireballs. Blunder breaks shields. Blunder vs. fireball/hab and bluntsman wins every time. That’s the advantage of one-shotting everything instead of bleeding or burning it. Also, Huntsman ult with blunder is insanely strong. Maybe blunderbuss is just harder to play than I thought. It seems people have trouble getting kill power out of it. The only thing hag or fireball really does better is kill monsters. Bluntsman is just as good or better at everything else.

It does require some headshots to maintain hunter procs, but once you get the hang of it I think it’s on par with any other sniper career (not including bolt BW).
