By “Mercy Rule” I mean that the game automatically ends when a team reaches a score it’s impossible for the other team to reach
This is unnecessary for quickplay as it kills the fun for many people in an instant (especially those who want to play as rats), and instead should be added as an option for Custom Lobbies
I think the other way around makes more sense: keep it on for quickplay, enable a “no mercy rule” setting for custom lobbies.
Forcing you to stay even longer in an already lost match (while cycling through constantly leaving team mates) just to get your XP and challenge progress would kill the fun for many people.
Hot take I guess, but a lot of people do not like losing, especially in a team-based game, as people in most cases start blaming others and look for mistakes from others. (I am not defending this, I am just saying how it is.) This alone is frustrating enough where it’d just tilt the player. It would also just endorse leaving games en masse, which is cringe as hell on it’s own already.
You are looking at this from a point of view of a person with history with vermintide and knows how to play it, wins more often than not and are actively dominating the other team as the pactsworn player. It’s really not fun to play into an unwinnable scenario.
As @Basti said, in custom lobbies this would be okay, because if you just wanted to do this for the sake of challenges with others, then there would be no frustration from playing a game you are not in no way able to win. Although I personally think not even in custom lobbies, just because this even further reduces the sense of accomplishment of said challenges, since I personally dislike challenges that are more inclined to be “farmed out” rather than being a goal actively sought after during normal and skill-demanding gameplay.
I’d not mind it in the game even though I am saying this, just because it’d not affect the way I play my game and it would just be a QoL improvement for those who would use it for farming.
