As the title says, the way ranged stun in the game has been implemented and just how the zealot class feels to play in general as a result (among other things) has killed my interest in playing the game. Unlike melee hordes where you can dodge, block, and push to manage your way around and work your way through the enemies, none of that counterplay really exists for ranged units. I guess I can just hide behind a corner and pray to Big E that one of my team mates better suited to the role can take them out.
Go play a zealot on any of the more open maps/sections and its just running cross open bridges and rooms just to get stun-locked and shot down to death after you maybe charge down the first guy. Hell, you might not even get that far considering ranged attacks will stun you out of your charge. As it stands currently, the game’s mechanical design seems at odds with the class design of a melee focused class like the zealot. Playing what’s supposed to be a whirlwind of death just to get stun locked by a squad of basic traitor guardsmen with laser pointers pretty much kills any notion of enjoyability.
That’s before we start talking about how the Veteran with a power sword is pretty much just a better, more versatile Zealot (no, don’t nerf the vet, buff the zealot and other classes).
